Meet Crew Kinser | Designer of Logos, Letters and Web

We had the good fortune of connecting with Crew Kinser and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crew, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I think one of the most important things I’ve done is to be proactive in being present for my child and organizing my schedule to accommodate time with him. There is always going to be work and work will be there tomorrow. Not only is it in regards to work, but also time spent on my phone. Being aware that he is watching and absorbing what I do even when I don’t notice. I think that’s been big impact and helping him know that I’m there for him and he’s valued and has importance.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started out doing a wide range of design and was what some would call a generalist. But breaking out and trying all these design fields really allowed me to find the ones that resonated with me. Those are branding, letters and web design. Those three have overlap and can be paired with each other in so many ways.
My ideology behind design, and my tagline, is “Boldly Now” – whatever I’m doing, or a client is doing, I want them and myself to dive into with everything, go bold, go exciting, push the limits. We’ve got one life, let’s go after what excites us.
I’ve learned that the design industry WILL humble you. It’s great to have confidence and know that you’re good, but if it’s not kept in check, something or someone will humble you. Keep practicing, keep creating and go bold.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man this is fun! I live in an area of DFW that I can hit so many spots in a week. But first, I’m taking them to Fort Worth. That is my favorite part of the DFW Metroplex. It has an atmosphere so different from Dallas. Dallas is all hustle and bustle, but Fort Worth has a calm and ease to it that vastly differs from it’s neighbor.
We’re definitely checking out a local shrimp joint and then taking some time to walk/bike the trails following the Trinity River and checking out the Stockyards. And on a nice Saturday morning, we’re hitting up one of the many local golf courses. Depending on the season, we may try and go to a ballgame or check out the local state parks or hiking trails. Anything to get outdoors.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dan Blessing over at Design Shark has been a great friend and huge impact on my design career over the last few years. We started over a fictional basketball league called the Hogwarts Basketball Alliance and have been going back and forth and pushing each other creatively for the last few years.
