We had the good fortune of connecting with Collin Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Collin, what are you inspired by?
We are inspired by the musicians who came before us and contributed to the evolution of rock and roll music. We are inspired by the infinite creative possibilities that exist within this art form. We love so many bands old and new, too many to list. We take our songwriting seriously and strive to write something that speaks to people but also hopefully sounds good!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are a four piece original rock band. Our music is primarily alternative rock with some softer ballads, along with some heavier tunes as well. We come from a background of punk and metal, and our sound has taken some twists since we formed in 2015. We had some songs written at the time, so we put together the original lineup and went in to record them. Shortly after we began playing gigs all over SoCal, and have continued to consistently release new music and play live since then. We have faced challenges along the way, and through trial and error learned to avoid some of the pitfalls and scams that are prevalent in the music industry. We do this for the love of it, and for the fun of it, which helps us keep things in perspective as we push forward and grow.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have such a rad stadium here in San Diego, so Padre Games are fun. The gaslamp district is interesting. Live music at the Casbah, The Obsevatory, and Lestats is great. The surf and beach zones in La Jolla and north county are killer. And blue water grill by bankers hill is a must.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Big thanks to 91X and Tim Pyles for spinning our music on their radio station and helping out with shows. Jeff Forrest at Doubletime Recording Studios has been really helpful and fun to work with. Also, some of the local venues here in San Diego such as Soma have given us the opportunity to develop our live show, which is much appreciated.
