We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Chain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always loved creating things. The process of making something has always been a stress reliever for me. Rather it be art or photography, seeing the final product always makes me happy.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I enjoy being outdoors. San Diego has great hiking, beautiful beaches and endless places to get outside and unwind. So taking nature and landscape photos just kind of came naturally. Getting the one good shot to capture that second of time makes it all worth it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego has no lack of amazing places to visit. Ocean Beach has always been a personal favorite. Hopping from spot to spot on Newport or hitting the Wednesday evening farmers market, there is something for everyone. The local vibe is strong and this little surf town has a place in my heart. I’ve lived in North Park for the past 7 years. If you love craft beer, craft food and all around cool places to take your friends for out of town, this is the spot!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve always loved creating things for me. It didn’t really matter if other people liked what I was photographing. As long as I liked it, I was happy. People often give me suggestions or say “oh, you should take a photo of this.” But I rarely listen and end up doing something I enjoy. I’ve been lucky to live in San Diego with some amazingly talented photographers and groups to push me and further my skills. Surprisingly Instagram has been a great way to share and meet with other people in my community. I really appreciate everyone I’ve met and learn from on social media.
