We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have not always been an “artistic”individual while I enjoyed coloring as a child it wasn’t something I pursued. Traditionally I would have never thought of soap as an artistic medium but that is exactly what it has become for me. As I began soaping I was never satisfied with just a simple single colored bar. I began experimenting with natural colors, clays, botanicals, and infused oils to bring more color variety to my creations. I began reading and researching different soaping techniques watching hours of videos to learn new skills. I also began utilizing tools to lend to my designs to match the colors and fragrances like coordinating stamps, scrapers to create patterns, molds. I have become completely obsessed with the creating process and love to create beautiful things people can enjoy using every day!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My background includes a Bachelor of Science in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota and a teaching certification from Marion University (WI). After completing school I worked in education in various capacities until I became a mother and stayed home to raise my children full time. I began making body care products for my family about 10 years ago and dove into cold process soap making 5 years ago this December and have never looked back. I have expanded my brand to include eco conscious, plant based skin care, hair and body care products. It has been by no means been an easy road start up funds were limited, my website launched in January 2020 and just as I started getting sales, I was thrust back into my teaching role, homeschooling my kids for almost 2 years I stepped away for a few months to focus on my family, until I was sparked to start creating and had a very successful holiday season. I have worked hard to build up my social media platforms and expand my customer base locally as well nationally. Throughout this journey I have focused on customer service and building customer relationships, I like to add in extras for all my customers, send regular customers new products to test, special packaging, just to add that little extra something.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have gotten such amazing support from fellow soaper’s but my biggest support and encouragement comes from my mom and my three children Brady (16), Adalyn (11) and Kinley (5) they are the best helpers!
