We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Karayannides and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up working for start-ups and with dedicated entrepreneurs, Dylan and I caught the bug early. The long days, stress, anxiety and general “unknown”…sign us up! We always knew we wanted to own our own business, it was just a matter of what and when.

After a Saturday night out with friends, lot’s of alcoholic beverages consumed and a rough Sunday morning, Good Sunday was born. After looking back at what we drank that night, we had no idea what was in these cans. Unknown ingredients, loaded with sugar and additives, we truly felt the effects the next morning. But, from this came the genesis of Good Sunday. We set out to craft a high-quality “better for you” canned cocktails using real ingredients and real spirits instead of malt-based alcohol. In every Good Sunday you’ll find three things: real vodka, real juice and sparkling water. That’s it.

At the end of the day, the goal was to create a better option for all our friends and family. As we like to say, “you deserve better”.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Good Sunday is a “better for you” Vodka Soda (hard seltzer) started by myself and my childhood best friend, Dylan Corson. The origin story behind Good Sunday is pretty simple. We wanted to create a better vodka soda (hard seltzer) using real ingredients. In every Good Sunday you’ll find three things: real vodka, real juice and fresh sparkling water. After taking on the Canadian market from 2019 – 2021, it was time to tackle a new frontier. And in 2022, we did just that and have proudly launched in our first state, California.

The road has been long, hard and bumpy. We will be the first ones to tell you that! There were times Dylan and I were searching for jobs and we thought the journey had come to an end. But, if you believe in something you fight for it and that’s exactly what we did. We know we have something special here and we truly believe in what we’re doing at Good Sunday. The biggest lesson is believe in what you’re doing and grind everyday. It’ll pay off.

We’re two 27 year old, childhood best friends from Toronto, Canada who started Good Sunday together! We put everything we have into this and it is truly an extension of who we are. We even got the name tattooed on us!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although we just moved to LA back in January, we have been busy checking out all the amazing restaurants, bars and cafes across Southern California. We love Venice, Malibu, Long Beach and San Diego! It’s just amazing being by the water, especially for two Canadian kids.

Some of our favourite spots so far:
-Gjelina
-The Bungalow
-Belles Beach House
-Gran Blanco
-Laurel Hardware

But, we’re new! So there is still lots of amazing places to try next! Might be helpful if you tell us where we need to go!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Good Sunday is really a group effort! My best friend Dylan and I are the founders, but there is a long list of people who have been a part of our journey. Chris, our mentor and guru who showed us the in’s and out’s of the alcohol industry, Justin, who was instrumental in creating and operating the business, Kelsey, Shayne, Adam, our initial group of partners who believed in us before we even pitched them our idea! And of course, our family and friends! They’re as much a part of the Good Sunday journey as Dylan and I are.
