Meet Chrisotpher Canole

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Chrisotpher Canole again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Chrisotpher, always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
My 10th year as the charity cosplayer Dude Vader in 2024 surpassed all my goals; including 361 media stories worldwide, adding 90 charity appearances as I approach 1,,000 events by the time this article appears, being selected as an Ambassador for The Parkinson’s Foundation, and most of all fundraising for dozens of charities at their 5K walks.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Ten years ago I participated in cheering on thousands of walkers and runners at the Run Disney marathon with fellow Star Wars cosplay clubs including the 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, Saber Guild and my group Star Wars Steampunk Universe at my first Walk/Run fundraiser.
At the time I weighed 225 pounds and my Steampunk armor weighed 50 pounds. Watching participants of all ages and body types from kids to seniors who turned out at 4am inspired me to join them on a new road to a healthier heart and soul. In my first year walking in full armor I trimmed down to 169 pounds while redesigning Dude Vader’s outfit now weighing 5 pounds.
What began as simply cheering on other charitable people evolved into paying the registration fee for every 5k, and this year expanding my goal to promote and raise funds for charities throughout the year. I estimate since 2015 I have participated in charity 5K events that raised 5 Million dollars. Now when I meet a first time walker/runner I say “Are you ready to become the next 5 Million Dollar Superhero?”
As you read this article I will finish my 200th 5K appropriately at Run Disney. Every 5K. I meet new people and listen to stories in the hour it take me to finish the race. I wish they could see my tears of joy and sorrow listening to them telling my about loved ones who have survive their illnesses and struggle, or memories of those who ar with us on the road in spirit. Often I am oldest participant, but the Dude Vader outfit allow me to encounter everyone without prejudice.
