We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos Cabrera Emma Blossom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carlos Cabrera, how do you think about risk?
We both think that risk-taking is an important part of creating and developing our ideas because after years of work, passion, and failure we learned that taking the risk is the only option to grow. We believe that change needs taking the big step into the unknown to unveil the big picture. Brewja Cold Brew is not just a brand, it is our way to give back to the people that have always supported us. We trust our ideas and people around us responded in a good way to them. “La vida es un riesgo” and that’s why we took the risk and gave form to this idea. If we don’t risk it with new ways of thinking, new coffee profiles, and new people we can not grow.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For those who don´t know us, Brewja Cold Brew is a Cold Brew coffee delivery service. We brew our coffee with excellent quality grains to offer a unique flavored filled experience at home. Our combined background is a mix of coffee-loving experiences and a methodical way of thinking: Emma has 12 years of experience in the coffee industry, working as manager/barista in numerous coffee shops around the country, and as a business consultant/customer service trainer for those who are trying to start a new business in the coffee industry of Tijuana. I studied Electromechanical engineering at the ITT and Translation & Interpreting at UABC, with 5 years of experience providing Technical translation and copywriting/social media services to the maquiladora industry and Cali-Baja Mega-Region. It was not easy to take the necessary steps to grow as professionals but together we tried to overcome the challenges. We love what we do and we hope to grow. Progress is never easy but working and taking risks is what we do best. Our brand is a reflection of our experiences and all the people we met on the way to what we do today. That´s why we are pro-helping others achieve their dreams and projects.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Before the pandemic, this question was easy to answer, but after a long year, we decided to take the safe approach to it. We defiantly try covid-safe spaces like República Malta Beer Garden, Cerveceria Madueño, and Cerveceria Madero for brunch and a couple of the best beers in town, then off to Tony’s Pizza at La Cacho, show them around the area. Coffee hopping around TJ´s numerous coffee shops is a fun way to end the week.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Brewja Cold Brew is a team of people, not just a brand. We want to give a big thank you to all of you: our local coffee roaster José Páez (@Handsomebirdcoffee), Cindynei Martínez Dey (branding and design), Carolina Cordero (photography/Editing/video production). We make coffee to give back and to offer a magic-filled experience of coffee drinking at home.
