We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron V. Peebles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cameron, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We wanted to give back to the world. Both Nixie and I have had successful careers in other fields. When we came to the next chapter in our lives, we wanted to make sure that we created a business that not only delighted our customers but created a positive impact on our planet. We created Claryti with those two things at the forefront of its inception, and it guides every decision we make, every day.

What should our readers know about your business?
Claryti creates powerful, non-toxic, zero-waste, all-purpose home cleaning product alternatives that directly remove plastics and toxins from our oceans. Home products are the third largest cause of plastic pollution, and we discovered that given a choice, most consumers would choose less wasteful alternatives as long as they worked well. Our all-purpose cleaner was created with years of testing in the real world by professional cleaning companies. We found that the customers of these companies actually preferred the level of service, cleanliness, and most importantly – the smell of their homes and businesses when Claryti was used. This was when we knew we had a product that was ready for retail and direct-to-consumer sales. Our ‘Claryti Clean’ All-Purpose Cleaner comes to the consumer in a waste-free glass bottle and easy to refill concentrate jars. This eliminates any and all single-use plastics, and shipping waste associated with water weight. This is a huge carbon footprint as well. After less than a year, we have hundreds of happy repeat customers and dozens of successful retail partners, meaning that our initial research really paid off. Creating a 100% sustainable company is not as easy as you may think. We carefully sourced ALL, and we mean ALL of our ingredients, labels, and packaging. We only chose companies that align with our core values and bring us and the earth good vibes. Although much progress has been made, it is still incredibly hard to find quality vendors that have sustainability as their core focus. We also listen to our customers very closely, and most recently we launched a product that they have been asking for – Dish soap. Our new Super Solid Dish Soap comes in a reusable and non-toxic tin, and contains the cleaning power of three plastic liquid dish soap bottles. This product has been even more successful for us, and is on track to eliminate thousands of pounds of plastic from the environment this year alone. And most importantly, our customers tell us that they LOVE our products and that just feels good to us. If we can give people an opportunity to improve their homes while doing good things for the planet that we all share, we feel that we have been successful at not only our business but the mission that was the reason we started Claryti.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are ocean-loving sailors & divers at heart. Although we normally reside in Southern California, Covid gave us the opportunity to live and work full time on our 44′ sailboat Ella in the Sea of Cortez. We have built her out to be 100% sustainable, from the solar panels that give us electricity, to the sail plan that transports us from location to location. Entertaining friends, co-workers and dive buddies is our favorite thing, so we would take our new friends out and show them some unspoiled, unseen, and unbelievable sights both above, and below the water here in Mexico!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We love 5Gyres and all that they do for the planet. Because of this, 5% of Claryti sales go directly to them to support their fight against plastic in the oceans!
