We had the good fortune of connecting with c. Ruzzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi c., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For a decade I worked for the world’s number one consumer technology company. The question I would get most was, “Do you make house calls?” It was truly a matter of seeing a need in the community that I was perfectly positioned to fill. I was able to help so many more people achieve their goals who would have otherwise hit dead ends with technology in their home or workplace.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Smart Simplified helps people from all walks of life in every corner of San Diego County feel empowered to work through their technology to do what they love with the people they care for the most. Whether that’s helping a family of 4 sleep safe and comfortably knowing their doors lock automatically and their house is protected with cameras and alarms or showing a grandmother how to create a slideshow of her favorite photos from her recent trip to Japan with all of her grandchildren. Recently I helped a client get her children’s Xbox back up and running when Fortnite was preventing her two children from playing simultaneously. I joke with my clients that I’m the family member they always wanted who didn’t mind getting the wi-fi set up while visiting for the holidays. My best jobs are the ones that help people connect with their families, no matter how far away or close they live from their loved ones.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love riding my e-bike so I would be sure to take in the ocean breeze and view of the skyline as we ride from the South Bay up the silver strand to grab on lunch on the beach at The Hotel Del. Bouncing around to all the great bars and breweries of Chula Vista, specifically The Vogue Tavern and dinner at Buona Forcheta in South Park. Being a Padres season ticket holder we’d need to check out the Friars at least one of the days and what’s a visit to San Diego without enjoying a California Burrito or Carne Asada Fries from your favorite taco shop. Mine is El Zarape in University Heights.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must credit my wife with at least half of the success of our company. She remains the heart that pumps blood through all of our endeavors. When I was lacking confidence she encouraged me, when I was hesitant she was energetic, in the most difficult moments she always has faith in us and our abilities. Without her this company never gets off the ground so I’ve got to give it up to her. Thank you Mer!
