We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon and Stephanie Orr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon and Stephanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our thought process was, “hey, we’re both entrepreneurs, who don’t want to work a job for 30-40 years then retire. Nothing against people who choose that route, that’s just not the plan we signed up for. Let’s put our head down for 10-15yrs like REALLY work it, and we’d probably never have to ‘work’ again. We’d also be leaving a legacy for our kids, can even sell the business for liquid, there’s so many routes we can go. But my wife Stephanie and I are all in on this thing. We’ve done well, we’ve made mistakes and still learning, so it’s only up from here.
What should our readers know about your business?
Cure Cleaning is a probably one of the most professional cleaning companies you’d come across. Being in corporate sales for 10+ years, I’ve had the opportunity to put myself in a position to work my way up to a polished and documented sales professional. So I’ve taken many of the sales and professional practices I’ve learned in corporate America and utilized them to grow our cleaning business. So, our brand here at Cure Cleaning leaves a lasting image. We brand ourselves as a PREMIUM service company. We provide better customer service, quality and an overall better experience than the ‘average’ cleaning company. Also, knowing how to sell has its perks.. I’m not easily intimidated having been in large corporate proposal meetings with c-level executives and my quota on the line to close a large deal. Nothing scares you more than that. So selling cleaning services to people who actually need it, is far from daunting for me.
Coming from where my wife and I grew up, the west side of Chicago, overcoming challenges has been something that’s a normal part of our life. So wavering through the obstacles that come with building a business are just another life challenge that we have to get past. And no matter what level, challenges and obstacles will always be there, you just get better at handling them. One thing I will say, our Faith in God has always been solid and we will always lean on God in everything we do.
I’m most proud that we sustained after COVID19. We moved our family to Dallas, Tx in Nov 2019 and soon after we relocated, our business back in Chicago started to fail. One of the reasons was not having solid systems in place, but the main thing was COVID19. We started to lose clients back to back then COVID19 pretty much put us to bare bones. However while the Chicago business was failing, our Dallas location was thriving. We were getting many calls for disinfection services for corporate offices and medical centers, even daycare centers. Today our Dallas AND Chicago locations are doing well and have bounced back from the pandemic. That is a MAJOR achievement and blessing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’ve done this so many times with family and friends when they’ve come to visit us in Dallas.
We’d for sure to to Frisco Star and show them the cowboys practice facility (even though we’re Bears fans). The entire area there is pretty neat. It has plenty of restaurants with different cuisines, vibes etc. Our favorite is Concrete Cowboy. They’ve got a nice half open rooftop, great food, music and a dope vibe.
We also like Legacy West in Plano, Tx. Can’t go wrong outside on the open deck with some good food from the foodhall below on the 1st floor. Plenty of bars there with great drinking options too.
For the best BBQ in north Dallas we love Hutchins! No one else we’ve tried in the area can compete.
Bendt Distillery in Lewisville is a great place to visit as well! You’d get a tour of their distillery and actually able to tase some of their bourbons and whiskys. A pretty neat date or family outing. Just let them know I referred you!
Frisco also has a ‘Farmers Market’ open on the weekends. However its not limited to just the typical farmers market vendors. In addition to the fresh produce, meats and holistic items you can find there, there’s something great for everyone, even the kiddos. One great place is BayLyn’s Closet, which is my wife and I’s other business. It’s a children’s boutique!
Lastly, hanging out in the city of Dallas, we love the Deep Ellum & Trinity Groves areas. Can’t go wrong with either one of those areas
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For me, I’d say my wife is one of my biggest motivations. Always believing that I can reach that next level. From supporting my crazy ideas to letting me hear the music when I’m slacking, her and our two daughters are the fuel that keeps the fire burning.
