We had the good fortune of connecting with Beorht Lewinski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beorht, what role has risk played in your life or career?
How do I think about risk? I’m an individual who believes you can achieve and overcome anything you set your mind to, by any means necessary! Reward without risk.. ? said no one ever. it’s true you definitely can’t control everything but what you can control is your emotions, reactions and yourself. Taking Risks has played a big part of how I view my world. For example I know I’m not perfect for every single role I want but in my career as an actor and model I like to take a chance at every single opportunity that comes my way. CASTING INFO – Caucasian, 6’6 , piercing blue eyes, my stats say otherwise African American, 5’11, brown eyes. regardless of the details I still apply because I have something to prove I deserve to be in the conversation and around the table when the decisions are being made. I’m just as good as the rest, Am not in competition with anyone but myself I’m here to provide my talent and skill and do what I love. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do. A lot of times I’m very shocked at the outcome because I do end up getting call backs to speak to these casting directors, producers, directors, writers and editors even though the casting call did not have me in mind someone thought “ hey, he has something to offer, let’s give him a chance” that’s why representation and diversity matters. When you have white cis men pulling all the strings they tend to do things the only way they see fit or simply the way they want things to stay but they aren’t interested in having that conversation are they.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
even tho I struggled to get somewhere, I’m just getting started matter of fact in my eyes I don’t feel as if I’ve accomplished anything. You should celebrate the small wins they’re progress. for me I celebrate when I’ve reached the goal. What I’m most proud of is myself. I used to be a very lazy individual. this is my life Am literally choosing to sit on my A$$ and do nothing but I’m dreaming of a luxurious one when I’m not even trying to put in any work. A lot of us are like that it’s pathetic then we blame everybody else but ourselves for how we turned out. Something that sets me apart from others is my personality I’m a whole different breed lol one thing I truly admire about myself is my heart I have the ability to see the good in everyone and everything around me. I’m always thinking outside of the box that’s what makes me who I am. A lesson I’ve learned along the way, for all my aspiring whatever your profession is sometimes take the experience over the Compensation. remember that you don’t need their yes create your own opportunities and build your empire. One thing I want the world to know about me.. actually no about themselves is that we can do better, don’t lose faith in humanity, treat others the way you want to be treated, speak up use your voice to make change.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well for starters my house I’m a great chief. I make a mean Mac & cheese with spicy BBQ grilled chicken. But ofc we’re gonna have to visit the city. Manhattan has some great spots. There’s this place called Washington square diner located on west 4th street they serve some amazing onion rings get it with a milkshake. Next is hot N juicy crawfish I wanna know the history behind that name lol, now if you love sea food then this place to is die for. It’s a Cajun restaurant with the tastiest shrimp and lobsters. They definitely know how to season their food it’s just the right amount of spice, great texture, not too much salt and really good flavor. They also serve burgers, wings, seasoned fries, and happy hour drinks. They’re located at 243 west 14th street tell them someone they don’t know sent you. Ok so this one is simple but trust me the best place to get pizza is the city, yeah there’s domino’s, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars but when I tell you city pizza hits different it really does. And it could be from any restaurant. Believe it or not I’m not a picky eater I get it that not everything taste good and of course certain people can’t eat just anything. I could go on and on about food literally all I do is eat. my last pick is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at it’s called Far East kitchen it’s a Chinese restaurant with undeniable taste. My go to order is house special chow fun with chicken wings and a side of homemade lemonade and of course the Fortune cookie can’t forget that. Hanging out with me anything we do should be fun. After all that food what you should do is some sightseeing, time square is a beautiful place especially at night, big billboards, colorful flushing lights, long street walks, music from every corner and so much more how could you not be entertained it’s like a party of the century. Bowling, paintball, escape rooms, hotel link ups are some more fun things to do. Yes, yes we love our fav celebrities, people practically worship them. There’s a place called Madame Tussaud’s that has a statue of almost every celebrity on the face of the earth even though they don’t have a pulse they’re definitely worth taking selfies with.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Not to sound selfish but I can’t say I own any of my success to anyone but myself. I’ve worked very hard to get this point of my career so far. As a beginner I don’t feel as if I’ve done enough I’m a perfectionist we all know nothing and no one can be perfect but that statement still stands. I take pride in everything I do, “ if you want something done right do it yourself” Very true because the world we live in today people love throwing favors in your face. I live in NYC most people use public transportation I remember booking my first role as an extra, first day got there late because the train was delayed and I got lost. it was a low budget short film so I wasn’t paid got to set at 4pm but got home at 3am why because I left set late we were shooting all night and the trains stop working at a certain time. Another time I traveled 6hrs to a place I’d never been before for a meeting with an agency only for it to be a waste of time because it went like this “You’re awesome, we love your look, we think you would be a great addition to our agency…. $14,00” all I could say in my head was wtf, for what?? At some point I even tried to convince my father to pay it. I’m glad he didn’t. I have enough stories to tell about my journey and not in a single one of them was anyone by my side telling me “it’s going to be okay, keep going, you got this” Financial, emotional, physical support was no where to be found. I was failing my classes, I was rather more focused on learning my lines than doing my homework. I was really stressed, on top of that I was living the typical teenage life dealing with all the drama it came with. But one thing I did was make sure not to complain I know others have it worst. all I had was God and myself. This is just a fraction of what I dealt with all the blood, sweat and tears. so again not to sound selfish but I don’t feel like I need to share my spotlight with anyone but me, myself and I.
