We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Harpst and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am an athlete and I am passionate about nutrition. Starting my own sports nutrition counseling business was a great way to combine both passions.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an athlete and I can relate my clients’ training schedules’ and goals’. I am also able to work with athletes with anxiety and depression. I would like the world to know that I help me clients optimize their athletic performance and I help busy professionals lose weight without stress or restrictions. Lastly, my clients improve their physical and mental health by changing the way they think and feel about food.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend for a hike at Torrey Pines to see the beautiful ocean views and wildlife. Then, we would go for a walk around La Jolla Cove to watch the seals relaxing on the rocks and we would eat fish tacos at the Crab Catcher Restaurant. Lastly, I would take my friend to the Hotel Coronado and we would go for a long walk on boardwalk. The most interesting and fun places to visit are Old Town, Hillcrest, La Jolla, and Coronado.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The San Diego Dietetic Association has provided opportunities for networking and educational events to help me grow my business.
