We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Boggiano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a parent, I believe the most important thing I’ve done for my children is to create a home where they feel safe and comfortable expressing their needs and concerns. It’s essential for them to have a sanctuary to relax and decompress from the demands of their everyday routines. As a busy mother of four, prioritizing their mental health and well-being is my utmost goal. I strive to cultivate an environment where they can come to me about anything they need without hesitation, fostering open communication and trust.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art as a hairstylist goes beyond just creating beautiful hairstyles—it’s about building connections with my clients and making them feel confident and empowered. What sets me apart is my ability to listen to their needs and translate their vision into a style that complements their individuality. I take pride in personalizing each experience, ensuring that every client leaves my chair feeling their best.
I’m most excited about the creative freedom that comes with hairstyling. Whether it’s experimenting with colors, Bridal looks or new techniques, I love the challenge of pushing boundaries while staying true to my clients’ preferences. My journey to where I am today has not been easy. being born in a different country, I had to work tirelessly to establish myself in this industry, navigating cultural differences and building a clientele from the ground up.
Overcoming these challenges taught me resilience and the importance of staying true to myself. Every setback was an opportunity to learn and grow, whether it involved seeking mentorship, refining my skills, or connecting with my community.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I am not just a hairstylist; I am an advocate for self-expression and mental well-being. My goal is to create a safe space where clients can explore their identity through hair while feeling supported and understood. I believe that the right hairstyle can boost confidence and impact one’s overall outlook on life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want to show them the best of San Diego in a week-long adventure! We’d start with a trip to La Jolla Shores for some seal watching, followed by a stroll through Seaport Village to enjoy the waterfront shops and views. A visit to Coronado Island is a must, where we can relax on the beach and explore the charming village. Of course, we can’t forget the iconic San Diego Zoo— It’s a must go!
On my side of town, I’d take them to Del Mar Plaza, a family-friendly destination with stunning ocean views. We’d enjoy lunch at Tamarindo, known for its delicious tacos and Margaritas then drinks at Monarch to catch the breathtaking sunset. And while we’re there, we’d definitely stop by Haim Salon, to say hello to my amazing co-workers.
For dinner, I’d treat them to my favorite spot, Steak 48, in Carmel Valley. With its fantastic atmosphere and amazing dishes, it’s the perfect way to end a memorable day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my sister Alejandra, my parents, and my children. My parents instilled in both of us the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion from a young age, which have been foundational to my career as a hairstylist. Growing up in Peru and later in the small town of Iquique, Chile, I learned the importance of putting in the effort to earn my place in this country and the industry.
I also want to acknowledge my children, who remind me daily of what truly matters in life and inspire me to maintain a balance between my career and family. I’m deeply grateful for the supportive community of fellow hairstylists and mentors who have shared invaluable advice and experiences throughout my journey.
