We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Sanmartin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My whole career has been a risk. I started my business at a very difficult time both personal and as we were going through one of the worst recessions in US history. Every opportunity has been because I took risks and it has gotten me to where I am today. I believe that if you don’t take risks you don’t leave room to grow. You can’t succeed if you don’t fail either. I knew this coming in but I was determined to succeed. What has kept me standing has been to stay positive and be grateful every single day.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe what sets my business apart is that I not only focus on photography. I have taken my expierences and my contacts to create a web of endless possibilities. I have access to so many amazing people and I am now creating events that bring it all together. I have recently been given the opportunity to be The Culinary Cinema event coordinator for The Coronado Film Festival and we are taking the concept of Film and Food to a whole different level. I’m very excited for all the amazing projects that are opening up for me and all thanks to looking out of the box,in this case, out of the lens. It hasn’t always been this easy or taken so seriously. But because I have actually taken risks and kept my self doubt away, I have been able to grow and open doors for myself.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t have accomplished everything I have if it wasn’t for the support of my parents and my community. Life has surrounded me with an amazing tribe. They lift me when I feel like I can’t go on and give me courage when I need it the most.
