We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Bouvin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I am currently pursuing! With holding a MS in Integrative Medicine, a dream of mine has always been to be an author in the personal development/self-transformation space. There are so many philosophical, psychological, and physical modalities out there for us to lean into and better our lives; many however, are unknown to the masses. I have a firm belief that human beings are fully capable of unlimited potential for healing and achieving anything we set our mind to. I reaffirmed this optimism (to myself) during the unexpected free birth of my daughter. For those unfamiliar, a free birth is where you deliver your baby with no western medical assistance or midwifery care. Though this wasn’t my “plan,” my intuition continued guiding me in this direction throughout the course of my pregnancy. When the event physically took place, there was no room for fear… only full confidence in myself, my baby, and body. This experience has deeply impacted me with a wealth of knowledge and a deep desire to help others by bringing forth a unique lens and some inspiration to topics that typically stray from the western societal norm.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My story is still unfolding… my work out in the world began in May 2024 as self transformative poetry posts on Instagram (@ever.unfolding.rose) and has since shifted towards more vulnerable insights and self-empowerment videos. I have learned that my desire to be an author will take TIME. It is likely not instantaneous, so my focus has been on building my audience and platform; a major indicator of potential success when seeking an agent and traditional publishing contract. Thus, I have also created a website (amandabouvin.com) where my goal is to grow my email list by offering anyone who signs up free access to my 6 part mini-memoir series. These articles serve as storytelling with applicable mindset reframing exercises to elicit thought, self-inquiry, and self-compassion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a parent, I am always looking for good food and an outdoor area for my toddlers to hang. I would suggest the new City Tacos location in Ocean Beach. Great outdoor patio, complete with picnic tables, a bubble machine, turf, and sunshine! Besides hanging by the beach, Friday nights at the La Mesa Farmers Market are also fun. Surf Rider Pizza is another sure-fire kid friendly spot that’s also great for the adults. Those local to La Mesa joke that it’s the “Friday night watering hole” as the 24 ounce draft beer special pleases many!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Gosh, so many people have led me to this point… my husband, for “catching” our daughter and allowing me to pursue my ultimate dream of being a present Mother. This shift in our family dynamic also allowed me to create an entirely new version of myself and the confidence to share my message with the world. My parents, for always believing in me and recognizing my gifts, they still to this day refer to me as, “Amazing Amanda”. My best friend, Michelle Janine Booke, without her my sense of self wouldn’t be as confident or clear. She is truly a support system and inspiration unlike any other, our friendship only continues to progress as we get older. Lauren Keller, my Structural Integration Therapist of four years, assisting me with somatic psychology and bodywork. My mind-coach, Ashleigh Di Lello, for her program BioEmotional Healing; without this, I would not be the person I am today! And lastly — the inspirational work of Louis Hay, John Kabat-Zin, Vex King, Rebecca Campbell, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Joe Weiss, Deepak Chopra, and many others who continue to expand my perspective and beliefs on what humanity is capable of.
