We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Dachs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My clients are the central aspect of business and it is always my priority to do everything I can to help them achieve their goals. With this in mind, by far the most important factor behind my success is persistence and to always push for win-win outcomes. Persistence does not always mean taking one straight road to the finish line, but often it entails me to seek out different routes, be flexible and push for the goal a different way. I think what my clients appreciate most about me is that I don’t give up on them when the end seems far away, but instead I continue to persist forward and use creative ways to find what they are looking for.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started out in the commercial real estate industry right out of college and I quickly realized that the learning curve was very steep. While sales might have come naturally to me in the past, this was going to be something that took many years and lots of long work days to build my business. This wasn’t easy at first, as I was used to short-term sales where you get instant gratification. Commercial real estate is anything but instant, it is about building long lasting relationships with clients that grow over many many years. The wait was worth it though and made the feeling of closing my first deals that much sweeter. What also helped immensely was that I genuinely love the specialty I’m in. I was lucky enough to join the Location Matters team that has 15+ years of specializing in restaurant and retail. It’s so important to our business model that we stay very focused in our niche in that we become the go-to team so for this type of use. Every day I get to work with these amazing entrepreneurial retailers and restauranteurs that are looking to expand their business and let me tell you, these are the most interesting and inspiring people to meet. I consider myself very lucky to be able to go to work every day feeling motivated to help my clients reach their next business goal and in turn getting to do something I love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m definitely a little biased, but I’m the first person start giving out restaurant recommendations and it’s always followed with, “The owner is really great, I helped them find this location.” A few great restaurants my team and I have had a hand in helping that are too good to pass up are, La Doña in Ocean Beach, Craft House in North Park (soon to be in the Sky Deck in Del Mar Highlands Town Center), and Oi Asian Fusion in Carmel Mountain Ranch.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely could not have gotten to where I am in my commercial real estate career without my Location Matters team. The countless invaluable lessons and skills I have learned from them have helped mold me into a more dynamic and successful broker. For that and the constant support receive from our team, I am so grateful.
