We had the good fortune of connecting with Adolfo Guaba and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adolfo, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from New York City., but my parents are from the Dominican Republic. The whole Caribbean and gritty city background has helped me navigate thru life with understanding culture, history and perseverance.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art has everything to do with how I see the world. What sets me apart from others is I am me and theres only one me. Im proud of how far Ive come and how far I have yet to go. Im where Im at by not quitting, because it hasnt been easy. Ive overcome by discipline and mental fortitude. Ive learned that all I can be is me.. I’d like ppl to know that you can do what you set you mind to.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start off at the Oceanside Pier and some breakfast at a small business. Head down the 101 for the beautiful views , hike down to Blacks Beach and end the day at Sunset Cliffs Cant forget to hit any taco shops or Carin De Ría, my fav filipino restaurant in Encinitas for dinner.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few people that deserve some recognition in my story. In no particular order, my man, Adrien Vargas, Ryan Hensley, Lawrence, who got me to pick up a camera and many others.
