We had the good fortune of connecting with EkayaniMusic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi EkayaniMusic, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Music makes me happy. It’s a bridge to somewhere else where life becomes crystal clear, suspended in sound.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally I am busy with telling stories. Creating is so important but so is telling the story in a way that people can connect with. I’ve learned video editing, live streaming and writing fans more consistently rather than just throwing my hands up in the air and giving up. Being an artist is challenging however there are tools and trainings that if you are willing to learn great progress can be made.  An artists journey is never really over but being consistent gives fans something to look forward to . I take simple steps on a weekly basis by sharing stories, sharing recipes and musical segments so people can get to know what it be like to come to a show for example.  I’d like to give a huge shoutout to Kyle Circa LeMaire and his brilliant community for DIY artists  http://Indepreneur.IO  It’s given me a compass, courage and a practical roadmap to reach my goals in a realistic way. This company gathers no moss! The internet can be intimidating so learning how to find a sympathetic audience based on data and AI has saved my career. I highly recommend IndiePro membership for any artist ready to roll up their sleeves to move forward. It’s the ultimate in DIY.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I’d most def show them the scenery around here! This place is like a dreamscape. Here’s my short list:

– Birdrock in LaJolla and then take them for a sunset sip at The Marine Room.
– The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library in LaJolla a wonderful resource with great jazz concerts too.
– The Boneyard at Swami’s Beach during low tide.
– The Pannikin in Leucadia because having a cup of joe and a slice of pie in a converted train station is charming.
– Whale watching and Dolphin tours in Oceanside Harbor – hey I haven’t even done that yet!
– The Meditation Garden at SRF Encinitas – just beautiful
– LaPaloma movie Theatre in Encinitas due it’s great selection of movies in a truly historical building. Love the old photos in there.
– Cali Cream in Encinitas is an excellent place for  vegan ice cream lovers. Everything is made on site with real ingredients and I can taste the difference. Super good!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jean Krumbein local Leucadia multimedia artists and art instructor definitely deserves a major shout out. She teaches at Bread &  Salt downtown  on Saturday mornings and if life drawing is your passion look her up!
