We had the good fortune of connecting with Merideth Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Merideth, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want to have a positive impact on women’s lives and that’s what I want to be known for. For helping women, for inspiring them, for encouraging them to build their confidence and love their bodies. I grew up with ZERO representation. I thought something was wrong with my body, because all I had plastered all over my walls were tall thin women. I wanted my body too look and feel different because that’s what we were conditioned to believe was pretty or lovable. Imagine a world in which little girls grew up seeing their bodies in magazines and on TV/social media! Our world would have a lot less women (and men) who hated their bodies. I want to help change this – I want those little girls to see me and then love themselves because of it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After realizing there was a crazy void in the industry was what truly catapulted me. I was so afraid to talk about/show my body because I didn’t want it to be sexualized. I wanted the work I created to be for women, because it was what I was desperately searching for and couldn’t find it. I finally took the leap and went for it! The only thing I wish I could have changed was DOING IT SOONER!

I’m a size 8/10 triangle shape woman and I create (mostly) fashion content for women to help inspire them to love their bodies and to help build their self confidence and self love. I also love encouraging women in more ways like by inspiring them to solo travel. I’m the only size 8/10 women I know that is in the space.

It’s always exciting when my channels grow – touching as many women’s lives is really what is most fulfilling of all! But because I didn’t have a community to join (plus size or straight size) it’s been really challenging to create an entirely new community and audience. Staying consistent and not giving up has helped me overcome the challenges.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooh! I have the best day planned! First we’d start out by having brunch at Sadelle’s. We’d walk around Soho and do a little bit of shopping and we’d be sure to hit up New Top Jewelry store. We’d pop down to Renew Day Spa for an hour massage for $49! We’d take a quick trip over the Brooklyn Bridge to grab a bite at Cecconi’s for dinner then head back into the city for live music at Grooves. The best day ever!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to ALL the women in my Midsize & Curvy Community and to all the bada$$ curvy and plus size women who paved the way for me. If I didn’t see them showing their bodies unapologetically, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
