We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Peretz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Spending time in nature, practicing yoga, traveling, creating content, working on my passion projects, and making new connections with people around the world. I believe life is about chasing real serotonin, and that comes from doing the things you love and make you feel most alive. Happiness stems from within; it is about doing the things that bring you the most joy and allow you to express yourself authentically. If I want to be happy, I have to choose to be happy on purpose. When I wake up in the morning, I get to decide what kind of day I have. I get to decide how I respond to my circumstances. I get to decide how I treat myself and others. I’ve realized through my own life that the moment you stop looking for a specific reason to be happy and choose to experience happiness without reason, your life will shift; it’s a state of consciousness.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always known from a very young age that I wanted to create content. I remember as a young girl I would always film YouTube videos in my room. I self-taught myself how to edit videos on iMovie in the 6th grade. Yet, as I grew older, I became more disconnected from this passion. My limiting beliefs intensified, and in a way, I lost touch with my true essence as the years passed by.

Yet the story continues: I graduated high school early and decided to take a gap semester. During this time, I had the opportunity to reconnect with my true passions. I decided to start my podcast: “Claim Your Power,” a show that blazes the trail for modern spirituality, mental health, and self-empowerment. During the first year of filming my podcast, I barely had any listenership. But deep down inside, I knew that I started the podcast for a reason and that it had infinite potential as long as I remained consistent. Cue to December 2022, Claim Your Power was streamed in 73 countries and was in the top 5% most globally shared podcasts. Discovering this was the most exhilarating feeling, as it led me to realize that as long as you focus on your impact as a creator and continue to stay consistent you will bring your dreams to life. In a way, this was a full-circle moment for my 16 year old self. During my gap semester (in April) I also self published my second book “Miracle Mantras” which contains 111 affirmations to transform your life. This book is near and dear to my heart because I deeply believe in the power of the subconscious mind and self-concept. I also traveled to Costa Rica to receive my 200hr yoga teacher license.

When I started my gap year, I also decided that I would connect back to my passion for content creation. As TikTok started to become popular, I decided that I would start sharing my personal journey online. This time around, I was no longer a young girl playing around with iMovie; I knew the type of content I wanted to produce and I was committed to creating an online community that is centered around self-love, personal development, yoga, and wellness.

I started with 5 followers. I know there are certain creators that became viral sensations overnight, but to be honest for me the journey required steady commitment and consistency. I think when it comes to success as a content creator, it is all about impact. Why are you creating videos? To get likes? Or to positively change someone’s life?

When you connect back to your WHY success just follows. I knew that I wanted to create content that inspires and motivates, so every time I made a video I connected to that intention. Over time, my account started to grow. 1000 followers, 5000 followers, 10,000 followers, 20,000 followers, 50,000 followers etc. Videos started going viral: 30,000 views, 100,000 views, 500,000 views, 1,200,000 views!!

I feel so grateful that I have been able to develop a personal brand for myself on social media that represents my true essence. I am really excited at the prospect of seeing where this path takes me. And although so much is unknown about what’s next for me, what I do know is that I am committed to continuing to create content that allows others around the world to feel empowered, inspired and connected to their highest selves.

Through my journey, I have learned a lot about the power of believing in yourself before seeing tangible results. If you can visualize something and follow it through with inspired action, you can create that reality for yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start off by taking them to get breakfast at Everbowl and then drive down to Del Mar for a beach day. Of course, we would get Board and Brew for lunch, and then I would take them to Encinitas to walk around and visit Soul Scape, one of my favorite stores! I love San Diego because of how connected we are to nature and the ocean. I would definitely also take them to visit Old Town, Coronado Beach, hiking Torrey Pines, and finish off every night with sunset picnics in Tabletops in Solana Beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. I know that may seem like a “basic” shoutout, but in my case, I truly believe my parents played such an influential role in my becoming. My mom and dad’s presence in my life has invaluably impacted my growth both as a person and entrepreneur. I feel so incredibly grateful and lucky that my parents have always pushed me to follow my big visions and overcome my limiting beliefs. My family immigrated to the United States when I was 8, and I have learned a lot about life, change, success, and tenacity through this experience. I believe if it wasn’t for my parent’s unconditional support, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today. I probably wouldn’t have self-published my first book if it wasn’t for my dad’s words of encouragement or started my podcast, “Claim Your Power” if it wasn’t for my mom teaching me that being vocal through my authenticity is the truest way to bring my dreams to life.
