Meet Qianqian Zhao | Cinematographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Qianqian Zhao and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Qianqian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting a business requires commitment and consistency. And most importantly, passion. I found my passion in being a filmmaker. And that profession has driven me somewhere I have never imagined. Dodge College of Film and media arts has educated me to become a true professional as a Cinematographer, editor, director, and colorist. I have spent years developing my skills and trying to be better. And starting the company “Production House 8” is where I can truly allow myself to use my skill and experience to help the business to grow. And to tell a story that represents that company or individuals to speak the unspeakable.
I have done multiple short films, commercials, and feature films. There is still a long way to go. As far as my passion will drive me. I hope people will recognize PH8 as a passion-driven, relentless, and quality production house that people will always remember.
Filmmaking is a lifestyle that requires a lifetime to explore. And I am ready to commit to it. I will always give my all for all PH8 projects yet to come.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full-service production company that is thrilled to inspire and create products to generate success. We help our clients at every step of the process that generates excitement about their products or services, that make their company memorable. We produce Full-feature film / TV commercials / Music Videos / Brand Videos / Corporate Videos / Social Media Video Contents / Still Photography.
The difference between a business that succeeds and a business that fails is one must have a solid business plan, along with the ability to withstand the downturns that every business goes through. Before we start the business, we have tested many times and see how it goes. During the time, we have faced many obstacles and difficulties and the most important we must overcome it. We don’t fear of failure, we summarized each problem and turned in to experiences. I also encourage each one of crew members that all the effort we put will end up a good result.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will definitely bring them to Venice Beach to check out the nature surrounds this city, the hiking trails, the beach, the wave and the sand. Grab a LALALAND coffee and enjoy a brunch with friends at Santa Monica beach is definitely a plus to the people who loves nature. Going around and getting inspiration for the potential locations to shoot is just perfect. I love Los Angeles! It’s somewhere full of diverse people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If there ever a chance to shoutout, it will be my mother school – Dodge College of Film of Media Arts a place where I can finally use my creativity and ability with these amazing filmmakers to create films that show great production value. I also want to shoutout to my parents, they fully understand and support me emotionally and financially when the time I choose Film over computer science. Although I know being a software engineer is more likely earn higher income than film maker, my parents never force me and allow me to develop my hobby into a real career.
