Meet Jaden Powell | Film/TV & Live Event Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaden Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaden, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Moreno Valley, CA, which is located in Riverside County. Most people wouldn’t know by looking at me that im transgender. I was naturally born female but transitioned to male. I mention this because in my industry I haven’t met people like me and when I see films, shows, or live events I don’t see the representation of my community and culture. I’ve had past teachers, peers, and other individuals tell me I’d be dead or in jail before I graduated high school or that if I did make it past high school life would be tough for me because I’m Black and transgender. My mother raised me to be strong and to stand my ground for what I believe in. I strive to be all that I can be to show myself and everyone else regardless of your background and upbringing you can do anything you set your mind to.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My professional background is in the film, tv, and live event industry. Back in 2018, I founded a media company based out of the Inland Empire called Creative Kultur. My company has had the honor of working up close and personal with multiple celebrities, high-profile clients, corporate brands, small businesses, and regular families and continues to do so. After my personal success of working for Warner Bros, VH1, and NBC Universal I took it upon myself to give back to my local community. I started a non-profit organization, Young Americans Creating Kultur(YACK); and we specialize in teaching media production skills to youth and pointing them toward their career path. Our first event for the nonprofit just took place this past September in Downtown Riverside where we brought TEDxMountRubidoux to our local community. So far this is my most proud accomplishment so far. I love being able to discover hidden voices within my city and give people a platform to showcase their abilities.
Even though it all sounds like a walk in the park, getting to where I am today has not been easy. I’ve had many setbacks such as homelessness, drug addiction, discrimination, and self-identity issues, but I worked through it all to achieve my goals. I realized I had to love myself and stop caring about other people’s opinions of my life.
I just want everyone to know no matter who you are or where you come from, as long as you keep creating the world will create a way for you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ahhh! I love this! Some of my favorite spots around Riverside County are the Shark Bar, Mario’s Place, The Presidental Lounge, Baco, Citrus and Olive, Maria’s, and the Donut Bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to a few people, First off shoutout to my grandmother and my younger brother who has always believed in me even at times when I didn’t believe in myself. I also want to shout out my two friends and business partners Rudy & Jeff who helped me, put clothes on my back, food on my table, a roof over my head, a car to drive, and ultimately step into the person that I am. They also believed in my dreams and supported me through this life-changing journey.
