We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlene Craighead and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlene, what role has risk played in your life or career?
How I feel about risk is just that, the word by itself makes people worried. There’s always a negative way of thinking when you say “ risk” . But for me and my career, if I didn’t take that “ risk” of possibly failing then I would of never became what I dreamt of being. Thinking past of taking that risk of failing, can hold you back from so many opportunities. Taking the risk is always worth it either way because even if you fail, you tried and that’s enough to be proud of. You learn so much from mistakes so taking a risk can be positive either way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got to where I am today by being a gracious, caring, motivating person. I learned that truly treating people with the love and respect that you want, you get it back in return. Being your authentic self, sells you without you even having to try.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friends were visiting, I would love to take them out to a nice restaurant that served creative new drinks and great food. Then relax on a beach, chatting about our lives together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I feel like my husband, my kids and my family deserves this credit for my story and success because they have always pushed me to do things that I was holding back on.
