Meet Mark Dwyer | Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Dwyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My first thought was, what could I give, and what would I get out of a business? I knew I could become very lucky and possibly with little effort make a profitable company. I also knew most likely that wasn’t going to happen. So, I ask myself if you were able to work some place that made you happy what would that be worth? I thought about time and how we only have 24hrs each day and how I could I make the most of my time. The biggest reason of all though, was to feel counted. I knew if I was directly involed in a process or product that I could feel counted, important, have a voice.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I was younger, I learned I liked music a lot, as most people. What I learned once I got older was, I like, listen, and enjoy all kinds of different types of music. I also figured out I like verity in a lot of things. Clothing, clothing I like to dress up or down or for any occasion. So, when it came to a clothing brand, I thought it would be amazing to have huge verity of styles and designs for everyone. So just like music can influence moods, moods can influence your style. If you’re in love, maybe it’s something warmer and more comfortable. A single person might wear less and show more skin. So, I want to make clothing, and clothing that people want to wear, and buy. The problem was I had no idea how to do anything to do with making a shirt other than washing it and wearing it. I had to figure it out, I started to research online and threw people in the industry, I learned a lot over time and many hours. You know thought if you are doing something you enjoy then the learning processing can be just as fun and make the time fly by too. I don’t think any business is going to be easy but the business you have passion for will be easy to put energy towards. One of the biggest lessons in business and life period that I have learned is nothing is perfect all the time there will be mistakes and most mistakes can be fixed or a solution can be found. If you see a city love clothing brand shirt or shorts or anything just know I put my heart into it and I hope they enjoy it and feel different in a good way like our brand, their own personally way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego has so much to offer. Great weather, sightseeing, food, and entrusting people. We would have to stop by all the known places like, Zoo, SeaWorld, Balboa Park, padres’ game. So, we will spend some time going to all those places but then i would want to take them to a couple places that only locals know about. First there’s a really cool hike in Ramona, CA. It’s about 30 minutes from San Diego. There you will park at the top of the trail and make your way through the mountains for a coupe miles. Then out of nowhere there will be a huge water hole you can swim in with a 70-foot water filling it. You can swim in the water and jump of the cliffs too when the water levels are high enough. Next there’s a place called loins tigers and bears in alpine. I love it there, they have lots rescue animals they help out and you actually can pay to feed animals, I feed a loin last time. It’s worth your day to go out there and check it out. For food I would want to take them some place new for everyone at least once. Breakfast Republic is the spot for the morning. Great breakfast food options, last time I went with the shrimp and grits. For lunch it would have to be crazy burger. Just like the name of the spot they make crazy burgers out of different meats. Last time I got the bore burger, it came with sliced pears and whipped cream on it, very different and very good. They also have local and known beers on tap so they would have us covered for a while. Last but not least we would check out Benihana. They have great food and make it right in front of you with all the flash and tricks you can handle. They have a cool set-up, that if your group is not big enough, they will put you at a table with other parties. So, expect great food and fun conversation with new people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Greg Raedel, one of the strongest, smartest, and most innovating minds I have been luckily enough to learn from, Thank you!
