We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Reynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It was an easy decision to choose art full time because it is what I am passionate about, it is what brings me the most joy. Being behind the camera is where I feel most at home. Pursuing a creative career path meant spending my days in a profession that I loved and was comfortable with but yet could always learn something new everyday because art is ever changing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Back in college I started taking on more freelance photography jobs as well as Minoring in Studio Art where I was able to really learn and grow in my photography skills. I consider this time period as the time where I began to grasp what my shooting style was and what subjects I most enjoyed shooting. I find myself capturing the authentic mundane moments. Landscape photography has always been a love of mine but since living in Southern California I have developed an absolute obsession with shooting in the ocean. Nothing beats capturing the moment a wave breaks or a surfer takes a turn in your direction. Photography is all about the details and editing is a huge part of the photography process. At the current moment I am a photo editor for a clothing company and absolutely love it. I am finally in a job where I am surrounded by the people, technology and resources that are needed to grow and flourish in what I am passionate about. I did a lot of little photo gigs and odd jobs before landing the job I currently am in which was not always fulfilling but enabled me to get to where I am today. I learned to keep preserving and trust in your abilities because we are capable of whatever we put our minds to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first thing that comes to mind always is the beach. I would say a majority of my time if it is not working or sleeping is spent at the beach. My first recommendation would probably be any beach in South Orange County starting with Laguna. Two of my all time favorite Laguna beaches is Shaws Cove and Crescent Bay. The rocks and little tide pools to explore are your postcard moments of California. For surfing and posting up all day I would say lets hit trails or San Onofre state beach. The best way to have a San O day is to wake up with the sun and grab breakfast on the way. Speaking of breakfast I would say one must try spot is Haute Cakes but there is truly so many breakfast spots. I would also suggest trying Alta Cafe, Arc & butcher, KIT coffee and for a bomb bagel Boil & Bake.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up I remember going on walks or jeep drives with my father through the local nature preserves back home in South Carolina capturing all the natural beauty around us. I feel as if those moments shooting with my dad were pivotal moments in developing my passion for photography. I have been truly blessed by surroundings, influences and most importantly the people in my life. I cannot even begin to say how thankful I am for my family and friends. They have shown me an abundance of support and encouragement that has enabled me to confidently pursue what I love.
