We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Caruso and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk are a necessary part of growing in business and in life.

Take the risk.

Choosing to be a entrepreneur in the cannabis industry which still remains federally illegal and highly regulated has always involved risks. Doing any business is risky but especially when the industry is still in its infancy.
Even in California before 2018 cannabis businesses were not regulated and could easly result in jail time and/or heavy fees. Some of these trailblazers and companies that took that risk in the beginning that are still around to this day have earned a established respect amongst our community and industry nicknamed “legacy market roots”. These players that risked it all in the beginning are really the ones who this industry’s foundation is built on.

Even having the passion for Cannabis in personal life has always came with risks so its something that we get used to. We work hard to see a day when we won’t have to take these risks for a plant and business that we want to be a large part of our personal and professional lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Please tell us more about your work.

We specialize in all things cannabis related but have been focused on cannabis events in San Diego. We run one of the only cannabis competitions and cannabis career expos in San Diego.

We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.

We are most excited about the future of San Diegos cannabis community and industry organization and growth as a whole. San Diego County and City are looking to make some big changes in the next few years and we plan on being a part of organizing this positive growth.

This industry is never easy. With the forever changing regulations, laws and not to mention the need for millions just to start sets our industry out of touch for most. .

Our group had to endure many hardships just to maintain and be a part of this industry. I can attribute these characteristics to our survival thus far: relevance, networking, hard work, grit, faith, passion, perseverant and supporting locals.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shout out is simple.

Shout out to my my mother for providing me with this passion through your pain.

Shout out to our San Diego and California cannabis community and industry for embracing our business and efforts.

Shout out to our small but solid crew past and present. Could not have done anything with out you all.
