We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Chloe Rose started purely from passion. I had always liked flowers growing up, but I didn’t realize how much I loved them until I got the chance to work in the wedding industry focusing on flowers for weddings. Things sort of just came into place and I found myself feeling right at home whenever I was working with flowers. The moment I realized how passionate I was I figured there was no better reason than to pursue it wholeheartedly.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider my work to be airy, garden-style floral designs that’s timeless and romantic. I originally was taught designing more structured and compact pieces. However, I eventually learned that it wasn’t a style I connected with so once I started Chloe Rose I taught myself how to create pieces that were more organic and airy. I think because it’s a style that I personally connect with it there is a level of authenticity in my work and I think my clients sees that and it’s what a lot of people gravitate towards. There is still a lot for me to learn and I am eager to continue to build my craft so that I can continue to create beautiful floral pieces for my clients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Socal have so much to offer! I’d definitely recommend visiting the beach if it’s during the summer and drive down PCH or go to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure for a fun day. For places to eat I would hands down recommend Oshima in Tustin for their Omakase sushi, Mama D’s in New Port if the mood is Italian for their special pink sauce and the best service or The Attic in Long Beach for a cute spot and their Hot Cheetos Mac n Cheese is a must-have.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I don’t think I’d be here today if it wasn’t for Nikki from Lifetime Weddings & Events. She was the one who brought me into the wedding floral world and saw the artist in me that I wasn’t even aware existed. I still remember the one day she looked at me and told me how I light up every time I talked about flowers and that stuck with me as it became my ‘ah ha’ moment hearing that.
Another person is my boyfriend, JC. It was him who gave me the supported I needed to start Chloe Rose. I was met with a lot of doubts originally and I was concerned on whether or not it would be the right choice, but he believed in me and told me it was a risk worth taking. He’s been my biggest support from day one and was with me for every wedding for the first two years. Chloe Rose really wouldn’t be here or where it is without him!
