We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorie Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jorie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was a little sporadic for a while but, I had just made a big change in my own life and wanted to give back to the world in a big way. I am very passionate about women’s health especially with everything happening at the SCOTUS level. I realized that creating a non profit organization for women’s health to support women of every circumstance was where I wanted to be.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
HER.period was started due to the current social issues and also to provide education on women’s health. I am very passionate about this as a CNA & aspiring OB/GYN. I have wanted to become the doctor that can truly understand any patient I may treat and make them feel comfortable. I want to learn organically by volunteering my resources and time to women of all parameters. We stand together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely visit the beach, Oceanside’s rooftop bar, and some local shops. We’re both fans of supporting small businesses.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to all of the wonderful women I’ve crossed paths with in my life. Notably — Emily, my best friend; My mother; Tracy, my late step mother; and Jennifer, my aunt. These incredibly strong women give me the drive to do my work.
