Meet Veronica Potes | Event Planner, Media Promoter, & Photo-Journalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Potes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I combined my passion for art, photography, writing, travel, and concerts/events. I enjoy expressing myself through a creative outlet by event and travel journalism, taking and editing photos, and creating events. I collaborated with artists to promote the South Florida music scene by curating concerts and themed events. I hosted these events at local breweries, bars, and venues which featured various music genres: Alternative, Punk, Indie, Psychedelic, and Experimental Rock, Funk and Pop music. I supported bringing touring artists to perform in South Florida from various cities such as Chicago, Illinois, Los Angeles, California, Denton, Texas and the West and East Coast of Florida. I featured the events and highlights of the performances and artists on my magazine and social media outlets.
I also enjoy writing, photographing, and promoting entertainment and food and beverage events, and concerts. In addition, I enjoy publishing travel articles as a resource for our viewers to find local sights in Southern California and other locations to visit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began by attending and photographing local shows, interviewing artists in person or via Zoom, and recording podcasts. I believe in the learn and growth mindset and I strive to learn and improve upon skills by watching YouTube tutorials, researching online resources, and connecting with peers. I would like to showcase viewers’ interests in art, music, events, photography, entertainment, food, and travel. Also, I would like to provide an outlet where viewers can stay informed about upcoming events, featured artists, and travel destinations.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To enjoy art galleries and museums in Los Angeles, visit the LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits next door. To enjoy live music, catch a concert at the Troubadour in West Hollywood or at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I became interested in this field when I interned at a local music label in Miami, Florida. I was inspired by the local Miami Art and Music scene by experiencing artists creating art murals in the Miami Design District and performing shows at venues in Wynwood. Also, I was inspired by Travel Channel shows such as Anthony Bourdain’s travel series: ‘Parts Unknown’ and ‘No Reservations.’ In addition, I was motivated by music documentaries and films such as Cameron Crowe’s ‘Almost Famous’ and his story of how he started his career in journalism by writing for ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine.
