We had the good fortune of connecting with April Douglas, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had been working as a Physical Therapist for 10 years before I started my own business, specializing in Orthopedics and Pelvic Floor. I had just finished working with the US Navy, with the privilege of treating many patients from Special Ops teams. Although I had had wonderful experiences and absolutely loved my patients, I was very frustrated with the healthcare system and treatment of the military family. I also felt that many postpartum patients needed better care and attention.

I decided to branch out on my own, and I created a concierge practice.
I’m a problem solver, so I tried to address every issue I was frustrated with by providing a solution.

I offer mobile visits, in the comfort of someone’s home or office, to better serve postpartum patients. Getting out of the house with a baby can be near impossible. I also wanted to help those that just have a busy schedule–we’re there! If you want the feel of the clinic, you can come to us!

I am in-network with Tricare insurance to better serve the military family. This one was important. The military family needs individualized and attentive care. No more turn and burn visits with a crowded gym.

I offer 90 minute evaluations, which is the longest in San Diego County. All treatments are 60 minutes, without the use of aides. You only see your doctor, a licensed Physical Therapist. There’s enough time for the patient to be heard and listened to, while also receiving treatment in one visit.

And lastly, it’s patient centered. Texting lines. Emails to your provider. Transparent cost. Only one patient in the clinic at a time. It’s all about the patient, and quality care is the number one priority.

What should our readers know about your business?
My PT 2 Go is a concierge Physical Therapy practice that specializes in Orthopedics and Pelvic Floor. We offer mobile visits in your home or office, as well as clinic visits–whatever works best for you!

Your visit is only with your Physical Therapist. No aides. No college students. No assistants. Our patients deserve individualized care with 100% of our attention.

All of the Physical Therapists have years of experience and extensive training. We are evidence-based medicine and truly care about our patients’ goals.

My PT 2 Go is where it is today by providing great care, but the journey to today was interesting. The practice opened in 2019, just before the pandemic. There was a lot of worry and uncertainty, especially in the beginning. We pretty much shut down the first couple months out of caution. We work with many patients that are pregnant, postpartum, have tiny infants, and are immunocompromised. We have had to be very diligent to protect our patients.

We have learned some lessons along the way, mostly about being flexible and rolling with the punches. The pandemic has sent a lot of us on a roller coaster ride, so we have done our best with keeping abreast to the most recent research and recommendations.

We really love our patients and truly love providing great care. With having more time with our appointments and more flexibility on location, we can give each patient so much more quality care.
