We had the good fortune of connecting with Sin Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sin, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
What inspires me and motivates me is knowing I have the ability to help others mentally and physically by using my knowledge of massage therapy and holistic healing. I find great pride in helping the LGBTQ community as well to be an advocate of spreading awareness and positivity to the community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is a sense of unity. Ive been known to wear many hats from being a self taught artist, dedicated cook and baker, a friend and now passionate massage therapist. I want to extend a hand to anyone in the LGBTQ community, those who feel they don’t have a voice or feel alone. I try to share my experiences with others because no one is alone in this world or should feel they need to walk this life alone. Bringing community together brings me great joy. Growing up with the struggles of mental health and gender identity Ive learned strategies to overcome those hurdles and ask for help. The hardest part of life is expressing that you need help. We as humans try to be strong and put up a front even when we feel broken inside. Asking for help is not weak, it is true strength.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best part of San Diego is the weather and the food for me personally. The hillcrest farmers market is one of my favorite go to’s on a Sunday morning to get some amazing produce! Right around the corner from there is Great Maple with an awesome selection of brunch items like the Smoked Salon Toast, YUM! Then heading over the Garden Kitchen for a 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings that will leave you feeling like you just traveled the world. Lastly, you can’t visit San Diego without heading to the beach. Carlsbad and Ocean Beach are my two favorite childhood memories. There’s so much to see and really awesome shops to check out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my mentors and leaders of Pacific College of Health and Science. With their knowledge, passion, and dedication for the craft of holistic healing I have learned to be empathetic towards others. Through my studies I have learned patience and strength through my peers and people that have supported me through this journey. The future is bright because there is a new generation of healers that want to give back.
