Meet Nickolas Wildstar | Raptivist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nickolas Wildstar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nickolas, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
My wife and I just had our first child, Chancellor, who is 2 years of age so parenting is still something fairly new to me. One thing I know for certain is that the world my generation has inherited is unfit for future generations to live in. Trillion dollar deficits, authoritarianism, racial disparities, are all issues our country is currently dealing with that could have been long avoided. Running for office is a permanent display of my effort to lead the way towards bettering our nation and society. Although I have yet to win an election, I’ve advanced dialogue and actions by others to improve the environment we all share. Ultimately the goal is to make sure that by the time my son is my age he will not have to be responsible for solving problems he had no part in creating unless of course he does so by choice. Doing this will not only severely impact the life of my child but every child all over the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Very early in my music career a producer that I was working with asked me what it was ultimately that I wanted to achieve as an artist. Fame, fortune, a mixture of both. None of which were more attractive to me than what I answered with and that was to help people. Whatever I was saying in my songs I didn’t want it to be said to hurt people but to aid them in some way. Emotional comfort seems to be one of the most well known qualities of music along with the possibility of inspiring masses and I wanted to tread wisely as I moved forward since I knew this.
Independently creating my music gave me the creative control that I wanted and needed to make sure everything I produced was something I could proudly stand behind. There were challenges dealt with from me choosing to do things on my own but they were heavily outweighed by the advantages. Whenever someone hears my music not only are they getting authentic musicianship but they’re also empowering my autonomy as an artist. That’s probably one of the single greatest gifts listeners give me unknowingly.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve come to love living in Fresno since first visiting here during my 2018 Gubernatorial campaign. After the election my wife and I chose to move here and even birthed our son, Chancellor, here. There’s many happenings going on all around town at any given time so we do our best to explore as much as possible weekly. There’s a plethora of taco trucks, festivals, farmers markets and wine trails. Hiking trails, waterparks, malls, casinos, and exciting nightspots in the historical Tower district. Some of our favorite places are Full Circle Brewery, Rhapsody Soul Food, River Park Shopping Mall, and Inspiration Park. There’s also many farms you can visit like Genesis Organic Farm that will let you pick your own fruits and vegetables. Whoever is visiting can look forward to a jampacked week of fun that’ll leave them wanting to extend their stay or anticipate their next trip to our town!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a doubt I must give a shoutout to my wife Crystal. She’s been the single most supportive person throughout my journey of political activism. It’s because of her and her alone that I’ve been able to accomplish so much and I’m extremely grateful for her standing alongside me every step of the way. Thank you Ladie Wildstar!
