We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Turton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Starting a business is a risk and throughout your entrepreneurial journey you will always be taking risks which is uncomfortable. So, as an entrepreneur you must be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Ciao Ciao Piadina is a fresh, inviting concept where you can enjoy boutique Italian wines and spritz paired with a variety of Italian food items, including piadinaa, salads, and a variety of Italian foods, like lasagna.

Piadina is a traditional flatbread from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, it’s filled with high quality Italian ingredients including Italian meats, cheeses, and vegetables.

Spritz is a drink prepared with Prosecco, a bitter liqueur, and it’s topped off with sparkling mineral water. Usually, served over ice in a lowball glass or a wine glass, it’s garnished with a slice of orange. A spritz is a wonderful beverage to enjoy during Aperitivo (or anytime of day).

We faced many challenges with opening Ciao Ciao Piadina because we had planned to open before the pandemic hit, once the pandemic hit our opening was delayed by a year. We are proud to have opened in April of 2021 and provide unique Italian food and boutique Italian wines to the San Diego region. We host monthly wine dinners that include wine pairings with a three-tiered tower of Italian bites, we hope you will join us for the next one!

My shout out goes to my business partners at Ciao Ciao Piadina; Francesco Burnazzi, Andrea Burrone, and Giacomo Pizzigoni. Due to the pandemic, we have overcome so much in opening our restaurant and I am very proud of what we have created together. An eye catching, beautiful venue that offers unique, high quality Italian food and natural, organic wines. Special shout out to our General Manager, Fabio Stallone for running Ciao Ciao Piadina and treating each guest like they are a friend joining him for dinner at his own home. I really appreciate all your efforts, thank you!
