We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Diveley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I first started making swimsuits it was mainly for myself. I wanted to create a more custom swimsuit for myself that no one else would have. After lots of practice, I realized that I could profit off of my hobby that I love. Once I felt that I had perfected my suits that is when I began to start selling.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently I am working full time at a Doctors office along with running a business. For myself a typical day will consist of working at the office from 8am-5pm then I will come home and work on my swimsuit orders from 6pm-12am. During my “off season” which is considered the Winter time I have focused a lot on trying to expand my business. This past year I have created a website where my customers are able to order pre-made swimsuits or customize a swimsuit. This has been a big achievement for me. I created the whole website on my own which was a challenge, however with a lot of patience it has helped me become more successful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to visit is La Jolla Shores. This is my favorite beach to hang out at! A great place to eat in my opinion would be Rockin Baja Lobster in Old Town!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not have been able to start my business without my family. Both of my grandmothers have given me their old sewing machines. My grandfather helps me by designing and creating specific tools to help speed up my process in sewing. And the biggest help and supporter is my mother. My mother will cut out all my fabric and is also starting to sew straps for the swimsuits. She also is a big help on making sure my business is running smoothly. I am so thankful for the support system I have.
