Meet Ana Resendiz: Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Resendiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
One thing we can all agree about is that the year 2020 was horrible. We all lost special people in our lives. We also realized that the ultimate most important things to cherish are your loved ones, memories, and appreciating moments before they’re gone. Sometimes all we have left after a tragedy are our own memories. That’s also when we cherish photographs the most. Thats why we love to frame them in our homes and share them online. Photography heavily impacts the whole world by helping us remember. One flip through a photo album and it takes you back to “the good ol’ days”. Photography helps keep the past alive, the good and the bad. They can also be used to display accomplishments, for legal evidence, and as emotional support. Now a days you get to experience great movements and historical events without even being there by all the photos being shared online. We can even say photographs start movements. Photography helps remind people of great things as well as tragedies. If the photos of the man on the moon didn’t exist, I don’t think people would be encouraged to dream big. If nobody had photographed the holocaust, it would be harder to try and understand what those terrible days looked like for some. Images have a powerful impact on society. It can be enough to make someone smile and also to open people’s eyes. Photographs are more important than we realize.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was able to get to where I am today by dedicating myself to be better than yesterday. I’ve always had the busiest schedule too but I still manage to squeeze some time in. Whenever I had a day off or an outing with friends, I’d bring my camera around and shoot everything we did. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot of things: Practice makes perfect, always believe in yourself, and there’s always something to improve. If there’s anything I would want to say to the world, especially artists, it would be to never stop trying. If you truly love something, don’t stop. Don’t stop trying, don’t stop practicing, and don’t give up on yourself. Your passion or art will eventually speak for itself and you’ll be surprised where it can take you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of the most fun and interesting places to visit in the city would be the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and Sunset Cliffs San Diego beaches are the prettiest. Theres also a lot of great hiking trails around the area. Downtown San Diego has also got a lot of great brunch spots!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with since the very beginning for giving me a chance to prove myself. I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you Ruth Cruz for always letting me practice portraiture on you back when I got my first camera. I know I wasn’t great at it at first, but you put up with me anyway. But most importantly, I want to thank my boyfriend, Isaac. He’s been the one to push me to try new things and give me confidence boosts. Thank you all!
