We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa McClure and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Kindness! Truly wanting to help every entrepreneur to grow and succeed. When you lead with love, it’s hard to go wrong! I have also grown and nurtured a community of amazing creatives which I feel has been part of my success. I was burnt out of my last business because I was stubborn about outsourcing the work I despised and have definitely learned my lesson this time around!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After 16 years of being a self employed photographer, I’ve learned so much about small business! This really helped when I decided to pivot before a national pandemic. I’ve always loved being a mentor and had opportunities over the years to help business owners. It was a natural progression to include my love of Instagram and coaching! I help busy entrepreneurs turn their creative business into a profitable brand using social media. Back in March, when weddings were getting cancelled I was so scared to put myself out there. I had a total scarcity mindset when it came to money. Everyone is broke, no one is spending money. It wasn’t true! It was a lie I told myself to hold be back because I was scared of failure. Once I was able to work through that – I flourished!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love playing tour guide in my town! My heart is really fond of Oceanside and Carlsbad. I would start with a drive down the coast, stopping at Choice Juicery in the Village for some healthy drinks. We’d pop in to some of the cute retail boutiques like Retail Therapy. Then grab a beer at Pizza Port or Kilowatt in Oceanside. We’d walk down the pier at sunset and end with dinner at Local Tap House for more food and drinks! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I took a big leap and invested in a coaching program to help me with my current business. Rachel and the team at Online Coach University were integral to my current success. Plus the other coaches I met on my team – we have formed lifelong friendships!
