We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlin Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to challenge myself and starting a business succeeds as a challenge. This business gives me the opportunity to sharpen my organizational skills and advance my creativity. Partnering with my best friends to run and operate our company keeps us accountable, teaches us about finances, about taking care of ourselves, and so much more.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been making jewelry for about a year. In the beginning, I had no idea what supplies to buy or use. I focused on simplicity and getting down the basics of how to make earrings. This entire process has taught me research and practice are the keys to refining and advancing my artistry. Eventually, I wanted to be skilled in wire wrapping and making all of my own findings for my jewelry. Wire wrapping is so beautiful and intricate. I’m still practicing but I’m on my way to mastering jewelry findings. What will set me apart from others? Building an entire earring with wire and creating my own beads with poly-clay and resin is on my goal list for 2021.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best place for breakfast is Breakfast Republic—any location! If we’re looking to get a little active, roller skating at J Street Marina. Play some music and roll around! Grab dinner at Humbertos off C St. & 25th. Then head over to Balboa park for a sunset picnic! When I go out, I never wanna go back home. So to wrap up the night, karaoke and drinks at Redwing on 30th never hurt! Other stops we’d have to make: The beach seems obvious, but OB is the best place to hit up. Sunset cliffs or the La Jolla Cove for the views. Eateries we’d have to try: Working Class on 30th & Polk Ave, El Nuevo Milenio on Euclid & Division, SD Boba Tea House Golden Chopsticks both on Plaza Blvd. Hangout spots: Spreckels Organ Pavilion, South Bay Drive-In Theatre, and Seaport Village!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My best friends Jessie & Estefania are the only reason this business has started and continues. They work so hard with me and we keep each other going. I can rely on them for anything and for that I’m so grateful! Shoutout to them for being generous, caring, loyal, and most or all wonderful!
