We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, what are you inspired by?
What inspires me are the little, all too often fleeting moments. I try to be better about really living in the moment, observing nature, my son, appreciating those moments that I have all to myself (quiet morning coffee before the sun rises). I love being outdoors and exploring local areas – especially more so the past year. The closer I look, the more I realize that there’s inspiration in the littlest of things that may spark a new idea.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Writing had always been close to my heart. For almost ten years now, this has been my way to reflect and grow personally. I eventually, years ago, started my first blog – to write about and share my travel and living abroad experience in London, UK, as a native German. I loved snapping photos, sharing my experiences and have the blog as a means of self-reflection. The Redhead Story has come a long way since then. I had many moments where I doubted myself and thought my passion for writing wasn’t enough to make a career out of it. There are so many talented „wordsmithers“ our there. I persevered, wrote for different travel outlets and my site had undergone a huge branding process two years ago. I love the freelance life and choosing my own projects in the field of expat / travel writing. It’s not always an easy thing to do but consistency and not feeling defeated when you get that rejection is key and helps make you stronger. The Redhead Story is my passion project; sharing my slow travel and mindful living experiences while encouraging others to simply go outside, breathe in those little moments and live a more balanced and fulfilled life by exploring more – it starts in our own backyards.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Andrea Gallagher from The Better Business Babe played a huge part in my taking the next step towards re-branding and building my site. She coached me through the process and helped me reflect on my goals and future vision.
