We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Thorne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Taking the leap to start my own business is the most important decision that I made to impact my children. I made this decision before I had kids, because I wanted them to have their parents present in their lives. I wanted the freedom to schedule work around life and also bring them along for all of the adventures. Supporting small business is giving parents the ability to truly be involved with their children. I always thank past me for making this crucial leap of faith even though it was absolutely terrifying at the time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My ultimate goal with my art is to bring out the best in people. Also, recognizing that everyone is unique and finding those qualities to enhance and not cover is where I excel. I’ve noticed that there are some stylists who do the exact same look on every client, and you will not have that experience with me. I make sure we chat about your comfort level with glam before we even begin, and areas you’d like to enhance. You have input during the entire process, and I make sure it’s your vibe coming through loud and clear. I think having this customized approach separates me, and also my ability to connect with clients on a deeper level.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would check out the best local taco shops, hidden beaches, vintage and plant stores, all of the best Farmer’s Market’s, and probably a concert at Petco. Hiking and swimming would also be on the agenda.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Jeremy, and my two kiddos.
