We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Alex Wiesel-Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Alex, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
MFI Medical helps the community by making medical equipment more accessible and affordable for healthcare providers, which supports better patient care across clinics, hospitals, surgery centers, and private practices. By supplying both new and refurbished equipment, the company helps extend the life of quality medical products, reduce waste, and give healthcare organizations more cost-effective options. This approach supports sustainability while also helping medical professionals get the tools they need to serve more patients efficiently and safely.

What should our readers know about your business?
MFI Medical is a company focused on helping healthcare providers get the equipment they need with a level of service, knowledge, and reliability that can be hard to find in this industry. What sets us apart is that we do more than just sell equipment. We work to be a true resource for our customers by offering both new and refurbished medical equipment, strong product knowledge, and a customer-first approach that helps practices, hospitals, surgery centers, and specialty providers make smart purchasing decisions.

What I’m most proud of is the foundation our company was built on and how we’ve continued to grow while staying committed to that mission. MFI Medical was started by my parents, Annette and Arnold Wiesel, and their hard work created the base for everything we have today. Over time, with the leadership of my brother Augustus Wiesel as CEO and the dedication of our team, the business has continued to evolve and expand while keeping that original commitment to quality, value, and service.

It definitely was not easy getting to where we are today. Like any business, growth came with challenges, changing markets, competition, and the constant need to adapt. One of the biggest lessons along the way has been that long-term success comes from consistency, trust, and being willing to evolve. We’ve learned that listening to customers, staying resilient through challenges, and always looking for ways to improve are what keep a business strong.

What I want the world to know about MFI Medical is that we genuinely care about the people and organizations we serve. At the end of the day, our work supports healthcare professionals who are caring for patients every day, and that gives real meaning to what we do. We are proud of our story, proud of our family foundation, and excited about continuing to grow while making a positive impact in healthcare.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were putting it into a simple week-long itinerary, it would be something like this: beach mornings in La Jolla, slow afternoons in Del Mar, sunset drinks and dinner at Monarch, and at least one late-night El Pueblo run. That, to me, is the best version of the area: beautiful coastline, relaxed luxury, great food, and places that feel both fun and genuinely special.

What I love most about this part of San Diego is that it gives you a little bit of everything. You get the elegance of La Jolla, the charm of Del Mar, the beach-town ease, and the kind of restaurants and hangout spots that make people want to stay longer than they planned.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d dedicate my shoutout to my brother, Augustus Wiesel, our CEO, and to my parents, Annette and Arnold Wiesel, who started the company. Their vision, hard work, and commitment built the foundation for everything we have today. I’m incredibly grateful for their leadership, support, and the values they instilled from the very beginning. Their influence has shaped both the company’s success and my own journey.
