We had the good fortune of connecting with Faisal Mushtaq and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Faisal, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I founded TechCon Global out of a recognition that the innovation ecosystems were highly fragmented: investors, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and academic institutions all had their own silos, yet very few platforms exist to connect them in a meaningful, multi-track, and cross-disciplinary way. Drawing on my background as a CTO, investor, and ecosystem builder, I saw that most conferences were either too academic, too corporate, or too narrowly focused on a single vertical. What was missing was a curated, high-impact forum where capital, talent, and breakthrough technologies could intersect under one roof.

Some of the gaps that TechCon Global is addressing are:

Cross-Industry Collaboration

Most events focus on a single sector (AI-only, Health-only, FinTech-only). TechCon bridges AI, Digital Health, Semiconductors, SaaS, FinTech, Transportation, Consumer Tech, etc., creating a space where innovations can collide and spark new ideas.

Investor–Founder Connectivity

Early-stage founders often struggle to access top-tier venture capitalists and strategic investors. TechCon creates direct exposure by bringing investors into curated sessions, pitch tracks, and networking events.

Regional Ecosystem Gaps

Innovation hubs like Southern California and Austin were underserved by global-scale, multi-track tech conferences. TechCon elevates these regions onto the global stage, attracting capital and talent while spotlighting local startups.

Practical Value Beyond Keynotes

Many conferences are passive (listen to speakers, leave). TechCon prioritizes deal-making, partnerships, mentorship, and workshops that deliver tangible outcomes.

Inclusion of Students & Underrepresented Founders

Traditional conferences rarely integrate students or provide pathways for diverse founders. TechCon builds scholarship programs, career fairs, and inclusive opportunities, ensuring the next generation of innovators is part of the conversation.

Our mission at TechCon Global is to fill the gap between capital and innovation, startups and corporates, established voices and new entrants — building a platform where innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship truly converge.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
TechCon Global was born from a simple but powerful idea: innovation thrives when the right people, ideas, and capital come together. Unlike many conferences that focus on a single sector, we built TechCon to be a multi-track platform where investors, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and students connect across AI, semiconductors, SaaS, digital health, fintech, and more. What sets us apart is not just the scale of our events, but the way we curate meaningful collisions that lead to investments, partnerships, and breakthroughs.

I’m most proud of the way TechCon has quickly become a trusted ecosystem builder in places like Southern California and Austin—regions with tremendous talent but historically overlooked by global innovation circuits. Getting here wasn’t easy. We had to overcome the challenge of being a new entrant in a crowded event space, but we did it by focusing relentlessly on quality content, authentic partnerships, and community impact.

Along the way, I’ve learned that success is less about glossy keynotes and more about real value creation for the people you serve. Whether that means helping a startup find its first investor, giving students a scholarship to attend, or connecting corporates with the next wave of tech, those outcomes matter.

What I want the world to know is this: TechCon Global isn’t just a conference—it’s a movement to accelerate innovation and inclusion. We’re building a platform where bold thinkers, first-time founders, and industry veterans all have a seat at the table.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want them to experience the true essence of San Diego — not just the touristy highlights, but the unique blend of culture, food, nature, and community that makes this place truly special.

Day 1–2: Coastal Vibes
We’d start in La Jolla, walking along the cove to see the sea lions, kayaking through the caves, and ending with a sunset dinner at George’s at the Cove. The next morning, brunch at The Cottage, then head to Torrey Pines State Reserve for a hike with ocean views.

Day 3: Downtown & Culture
A day in Balboa Park — museums, gardens, and maybe a show at the Old Globe. Dinner in Little Italy (Born & Raised for steak or Ironside for seafood), followed by rooftop drinks at ALTITUDE Sky Lounge downtown.

Day 4: North County Escape
Drive up to Encinitas and Carlsbad — surf lessons at Moonlight Beach, walk through the Meditation Gardens, grab tacos at Juanita’s, and craft beer tasting at one of the many local breweries.

Day 5: Cross-Border Adventure
If they’re up for it, I’d take them across the border to Tijuana for a food tour — street tacos, Caesar’s (the birthplace of the Caesar salad), and a little art walk along Avenida Revolución.

Day 6: Local Gems
Morning at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park or the Zoo itself, then head to Liberty Station for food, art, and culture. Wrap up with a harbor cruise or a sunset sail in the bay.

Day 7: Relax & Reflect
We’d finish the week on Coronado Island — bike the Silver Strand, enjoy the Hotel del Coronado, and have a farewell dinner watching the sun dip into the Pacific.

What makes San Diego special isn’t just the beaches or weather (though those are unbeatable!) — it’s the energy of the people, the blend of cultures, and the sense of community that always makes visitors feel like they’re part of something bigger.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are deeply grateful to the John G. Watson Foundation for their incredible support in empowering the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. Their commitment to education, scholarships, and student engagement aligns perfectly with our mission at TechCon Global to build inclusive pathways for future leaders.

With partners like the John G. Watson Foundation, we’re able to provide student sponsorships, mentorship opportunities, and greater access to world-class events like TechCon SoCal 2026 and TechCon Southwest 2026. Together, we’re building bridges that will shape tomorrow’s innovation ecosystem.
