We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Quest Aka Ember Heart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer Quest, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I believe that intention combined with action is at the core of any success I’ve experienced, whether in relationships, career, motherhood, athleticism or artistic expression. I follow a guiding principle I call sincere action: living with intention, consistency, and authenticity. It helps me stay in integrity with myself, maintain healthy boundaries, and move with flow. It’s not a perfect state, but a daily practice that keeps me aligned with what truly matters to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My current art is primarily literary, Working under my pen name, Ember Heart. I’ve been a natural writer my whole life, drawn to books from a young age and endlessly in love with storytelling. For me, stories are the most powerful way to connect to the human experience. I’m constantly inspired by the insight, wisdom, and emotion they carry.

A friend once introduced me to a course on self-publishing, and from there everything snowballed. Since then, I’ve published ten romance novels on Amazon. As a romantic at heart, this journey has been full of steam, spice, and everything nice, and I’ve cherished every moment of it.

More recently, I’ve begun exploring another creative avenue: digital content. I share my love of books on TikTok and Instagram, and I’ve found this space incredibly rewarding. There are so many amazing stories and brilliant authors I want to read, discuss, and celebrate. I light up when I get to talk about books, dive into themes, and philosophize about the power of storytelling.

Looking ahead, I plan to lean even further into this world. Whether through my own novels or through sharing and discussing the works of others, I want my brand to reflect one thing clearly: that books and stories are at the heart of who I am and what I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If someone came to visit me in the San Diego area, I’d kick things off with brunch at High/Low Café at the Mission Pacific Hotel in Oceanside. It’s the perfect spot to soak in ocean views, people-watch, and enjoy a delicious meal. From there, we’d stroll the pier, stop by the iconic Top Gun House for one of their amazing mini apple pies, and then cruise along The Strand, a gorgeous little road that hugs the coastline, before catching some sun at the beach. In the late afternoon, I’d take them back to the Mission Pacific rooftop bar for a cocktail at sunset, ideally on one of their music nights.

Beyond Oceanside, I’d recommend a day at the Wild Animal Park, a hike through Torrey Pines for breathtaking views, and of course plenty of time at San Diego’s stunning beaches. Carlsbad Village is another must, with its charming boutiques and fantastic restaurants, while downtown Encinitas offers a vibrant mix of shops and local flavor that’s always fun to explore.

Honestly, San Diego has endless options—from outdoor adventures to cozy coastal hangouts—so the week would be packed with beauty, good food, and plenty of sunshine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t imagine my life without the support of my incredible husband, Aaron. He’s always celebrated my successes, encouraged my growth, believed in my dreams, and shown me unwavering love. Choosing him was like a trust fall into being truly seen, and he caught me with open arms. I’ve blossomed so much in our relationship.

My beautiful daughter Sophia has taught me more about myself than words can capture. Through her eyes, I find the inspiration to rise every day and strive to be a better version of myself.

My family has also been a source of profound love and encouragement. Like all families, we’ve shared both highs and lows, but those moments have given me lessons, reflection, and the chance to grow. Their love is a cornerstone of my life, and I’m endlessly grateful for the foundation they’ve given me.

And of course, my amazing community of friends, my soul family, who bring me inspiration, joy, depth, and reflection. They’ve taught me so much about authentic expression and the freedom to be fully myself.
