We had the good fortune of connecting with Flash Kellish and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Flash, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk to me, is what helps make life interesting and satisfying, but as with most everything, there is Yin and Yang. I have never wanted a 9-5 desk job, though I have worked them before. I have always wanted to do things that were challenging, but of course this poses problems when it’s difficult to get booked anywhere and business is slow. I love what I do, but the uncertainty can be stressful at times.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been an entertainer since I was a child. I have been fortunate enough to have worked in a great many shows and films, and on stages around the world in various capacities. I am an actor, dancer, artist, choreographer, model, cinematographer, stuntman, stilt-walker, mascot, and puppeteer. I also make music and graphics, write short films, direct, have done sound and lighting, and edited among other things. I would say one of the things that sets me apart is that I am a Jack of many trades, I learn quickly, and take direction well. I have a decent business sense and understand the ins and outs of the entertainment world in general. I am proud of the fact that I have helped create art that has reached and brought joy to many people, especially children. I have gotten to this point by never giving up, even through some very dark times, and anyone that says it’s easy hasn’t had to really work for what they’ve got. I have learned to respect the art and the process. To be prepared for every project. To be open to suggestion and criticism. To accept rejection with humility, and to keep striving to be the best that I can be. I want the world to know that I am confident that I will always be an asset to any project, and will continue to help produce quality product.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in one of the greatest cities in the world, San Diego, and have worked in and travel to Las Vegas on a regular basis. There is so much to do and see in both of these cities, that I would have to provide my friend a list of things and allow them to decide what they’d like to do, because there is far too much to accomplish all in a week. Everything from the Zoo & Balboa Park, to Sea World, the beaches, the food and the nightlife to all the things we all know that Vegas has to offer, I would make it one of the most memorable experiences of their life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are several people I’d love to acknowledge: my father “BR” and my sons Treyn, Devin, and Taegre, my film partners and dear friends Michael Scott & Jeff Jones, my longtime friend and fellow dancer Bonnie Johnston, my acting teacher William Virchis, my long lost brother from another mother Robert Scott, my business partner and friend Roni Brier, and my longtime co-worker and good friend Terri Racine…of course I am leaving a great many out that have helped me to get where I am, but if you are reading this you know who you are, and I am very grateful to have had you be a part of my existence on this pale blue dot.
