Today we’re excited to be connecting with Dara Simic again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Dara, always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
We are Srdjan and Dara Simic, owners of Studio Simic. Srdjan is an industrial designer and engineer and Dara is an interior designer. We work on separate projects but collaborate when each other’s specialized skills are needed. What sets us apart is our ability to bring on each other’s talents to various projects and our mom and pop approach to working with clients. We keep our overhead low and those savings get past on to our clients. We have a design process that leaves very little room for error and we make the process fun for our clients by leading them through in a very personal and organized way. Highlights of our journey so far have been being at the right place at the right time to meet the person who would successfully collaborate with us. Whether they were a colleague, contractor, or client, those connections led to other future projects and collaborations and we faithfully maintain those relationships throughout the years.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Dara continues to do more residential interior projects in the downtown Marina district of San Diego although she has projects all over San Diego county as well. She finds downtown San Diego high rise living to be a wonderful place to work. With sweeping bay and city views and an international airport just minutes away, most downtown clients are very happy second home owners or simply happy and lucky San Diego permanent residents. Each interior project is unique and exciting with its own individual needs to problem solve and create beautiful transformations of space and living for her clients.

Srdjan has been continuing to work a great deal with retail display design for the wine, cannabis dispensary, and action sports industries. He has seen some ups and downs in the cannabis dispensary industry as it progresses to find its footing in a brand new market. He continues to support clients in the Napa Valley and San Diego County regions who need their products to shine in a retail environment against the large amount of competitors.

What do you want people to remember about you and your brand? What are some of things that you feel are most important, unique, special, etc?
Dara – I have heard from several clients that they think of me often while they are enjoying their space. It makes me very happy to know that my clients continue to cherish their living space and that they have a good memory of the design process we went through together. Simply bringing joy into their every day homes is what it is all about. Most people have a memory of living in the space before the remodel and the frustrations the prior space brought them. That adds to their appreciation of the whole experience.

I feel most remodel success stories come from a collaboration with a good amount of client input. It is my job as their designer to read everyone’s different ideas, tastes, and abilities and manage them through a successful design and remodel process. The ultimate goal is a happy client with a customized living space they can enjoy for years to come.
