We had the good fortune of connecting with Chisom Kingston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chisom, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting Mafia Scheme was a process fueled by both passion and purpose. It wasn’t just about creating clothes—it was about building a movement and shedding light on the societal schemes we all face daily. The journey started with an idea: everything in this world is a scheme, a system designed for most people to struggle while a few stay ahead. I wanted to create something that not only reflected that reality but also empowered people to think, move, and strategize differently.

What should our readers know about your business?
Mafia Scheme is more than a clothing brand, it’s a statement, a mindset, and a rebellion against the systems designed to keep people struggling. What sets us apart is that our brand isn’t just about fashion; it’s about awareness and empowerment. We expose the societal schemes that shape our daily lives and build a family of schemers—people who refuse to accept the world as it is and instead strategize their own way to success.

Getting to where we are today wasn’t easy. Starting this brand took time, trial and error, and countless obstacles. Finding the right manufacturers, ensuring quality, and building a brand identity that truly represents our message were all challenges that took persistence to overcome.
One of the biggest hurdles was learning how to stand out in an oversaturated industry. Clothing brands pop up every day, but very few have a message that truly resonates. Mafia Scheme is different because it’s built on real experiences, real struggles, and real conversations about the world we live in. To push through the noise, I had to learn how to market not just a product, but a culture.

Some lessons I learned along the way are that authenticity is everything, patience and persistence wins the race, and build a community not just a brand.

What the World Should Know is that Mafia Scheme is for the underdogs, the hustlers, and the ones who see through the illusion. It’s for those who refuse to be just another pawn in the system and instead choose to scheme back—to think critically, move strategically, and take control of their own lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from Atlanta Georgia, if I had a friend visiting the city I would take them to all of the popular attractions. I would take them to the aquarium, next I would take them to the belt line and let them see piedmont park and other small attractions in that area. I could take them to visit the world of Coca-Cola, or maybe even go to Truist park to see a braves game. I would take them to Lenox mall then to the west end mall so they can see all aspects of this amazing city. As for food, whatever they’re craving I could find something to accommodate. If they’re craving chicken I would take them to JJ’s fish and chicken. If they were craving seafood I would take them to Atlanta fish market. If they were. Raving steak I would take them to STK or Hal’s steakhouse. Here Atlanta there’s something for everything and everyone. Personally the beltline is one of my favorite places to go and spend time here in the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout God for continuously blessing me and allowing me to chase my dreams. Next I would like to shoutout my parents for their support throughout my life. My parents have played a pivotal role in my success in every aspect of my life and without them I would have nothing. Finally I would like to shoutout my friends and everyone who genuinely supports me. The support from my friends and family keeps me motivated. They keep me encouraged and hungry to continue chasing my passion. I would never take their love and support for granted.
