The Characteristics & Habits That Matter

We asked some of the city’s rising stars about why they think they have been so successful and we’ve shared their responses below.

There are many habits which have helped me succeed both professionally and personally. Respect, compassion, and empathy are very important and fundamental habits/traits that every physician should possess. Everyone is a human being, and regardless of one’s socioeconomic status, profession, age, or any other differences, it is important to treat them just as you would your best friend, sibling, parent, or grandparent. Every morning, I list projects, ideas, and things to do for the business. Some things are as simple as answering a question like what are the numbers today? Another item may take several months to research, like how to do Facebook Ads, but they are all things that may or may not help the business grow. I make sure to check them off the list and then rewrite the list new and clean every morning. There are new things that I have to do daily, and I have started using the “Task” feature in my iCal. I love it when I can check them off daily until it becomes a habit. Read more>>

A willingness to just go for it and figure it out is key! There’s nothing we can’t learn how to do and do well with the right time, energy and effort. Whether it was finding success in college, corporate America or as a startup founder – I think it all comes back to resourcefulness, grit and a practice of continuing to take action in the right direction.
