We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Welti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
A willingness to just go for it and figure it out is key! There’s nothing we can’t learn how to do and do well with the right time, energy and effort. Whether it was finding success in college, corporate America or as a startup founder – I think it all comes back to resourcefulness, grit and a practice of continuing to take action in the right direction.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
RetreatVi is truly community and purpose led. There are other retreat marketplaces that exist but we are making our business and tech decisions from a place of seeking to empower others and build meaningful connectedness across hosts and seekers. We are also prioritizing user experience at every turn – on and off our mobile app.

The highs are high and the lows are low in entrepreneurship but it has been an incredible start to the journey so far and I know the best is yet to come. Overcoming challenges all comes back to mindset, sense of self, belief in your vision and how you take care of yourself to bounce back. You won’t be able to avoid hard times but you can build up your tolerance so that you can ride the waves more effectively and remember to give yourself the same grace you would extend to someone you love. Tangibly, I recommend other entrepreneurs to practice breathwork, prioritize a workout routine that they love, journal and give cold plunging a try.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start the weekend with iced coffee from Better Buzz, empanadas from Bump and a morning walk in Cardiff. A beach day would naturally be the next step. In the early evening, we would go to a breathwork and cold plunging class at Soul Plunge in La Jolla which naturally would be followed by Taco Stand for dinner.

Other spots that would be included in our itinerary would be:

Trilogy Sanctuary for a rooftop aerial yoga class and lunch at their vegan cafe
A slow flow yoga class at Riff’s in Bird Rock
Farmer’s market Saturday in Little Italy
A Torrey Pines hike
A pilates class at SALT
Grabbing a drink for sunset at Alila Marea Beach Resort

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have had really incredible mentors and friends who have helped me create a stronger sense of confidence, trust and belief in myself. I consider myself lucky to have such strong relationships but I also recognize it took a lot of intention, time and nurturing to cultivate a network that truly feels so empowering, uplifting, bright and dynamic. There are too many to name directly but I’m big on giving people their flowers so the people who have been key in my journey so far absolutely know it because I tell them often!
