Meet Natalie Kees | Owner of Kees Analytics

We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Kees and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I launched Kees Analytics back in 2016 with a goal: to find a way to juggle the whirlwind of motherhood with my business intelligence career. At the time, I was navigating the demands of a high-pressure corporate job while raising a one and four year old. Balancing work and home life felt like chasing a dream, but I was determined to crack the code on how to be an engaged mom and a successful professional.
With over a decade of experience in both corporate and agency settings behind my belt at the time, I had built analytics infrastructures from the ground up and helped countless clients turn data into their key to success. It felt like a natural progression to dive into the consultancy world, where I could use my expertise to make a difference for businesses while enjoying the flexibility to harmonize my career and family life. And that’s how Kees Analytics came to be!
Looking back on the past eight years, I’m thrilled I took the leap and embraced this journey. It’s been a wild ride full of growth and learning, and I’m incredibly grateful for every twist and turn along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kees Analytics, founded in 2016, is a business intelligence consultancy driven by a passion for combining deep industry expertise with a personalized approach. We offer tailored solutions in analytics strategy, data visualization, automation, and insights to meet the unique needs of businesses.
One of the most common challenges we encounter is the significant amount of time businesses spend creating reports manually. From entry-level staff to executives, professionals often invest hours, days, and sometimes weeks crafting a single report, only to repeat the process regularly. This repetitive and time-consuming task leaves little room for meaningful analysis and increases the risk of errors. At Kees Analytics, we transform this workflow by automating report creation. Imagine having your reports at the click of a button, complete with dynamic visualizations that provide clear insights, accessible anytime on your device. It’s not just efficient; it’s transformative.
To ensure our reports deliver maximum value, we carefully curate and present data tailored to each client’s specific needs and audience. We support our clients through every stage, refining and optimizing their reporting processes to boost efficiency and effectiveness. Our meticulous approach means each report not only informs but also empowers better decision-making.
The journey to establishing Kees Analytics has been both exhilarating and challenging. Leaving a stable corporate career to launch my own business was daunting, filled with uncertainties. Balancing the demands of a growing business with family life added another layer of complexity. However, I embraced these challenges, leveraging my experience and focusing on the rewards of achieving work-life balance and professional flexibility.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned the importance of staying adaptable and continuously learning. Keeping pace with industry advancements is essential in the ever-evolving world of big data. Balancing innovation with practical experience has been key to navigating challenges and achieving success.
Kees Analytics is more than just a provider of top-tier business intelligence solutions; it’s about delivering genuine value with a personal touch. Our approach blends experience and innovation with a commitment to making high-quality analytics accessible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were showing my best friend around, we’d hit all my favorite spots for a perfect mix of great food, music, and adventure. We’d start our culinary journey at Café Sevilla in the Gaslamp Quarter, savoring delicious Spanish tapas and refreshing sangria. Next, we’d head to Solunto Restaurant in Little Italy for some of the best ravioli around. Up in North County, we’d make a stop at Taco Stand in downtown Encinitas for mouthwatering Mexican food—there’s always a long line for a reason! For a stunning sunset dinner, we’d dine at Vaga at the Alila Marea Resort on the Encinitas coast.
For some fun in the sun, we’d spend a day at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, catching waves and soaking up the rays. After hitting the beach, we’d check out a concert at the Rady’s Shell, a venue with incredible ambiance and unforgettable performances. If we’re in the mood for nature, I’d take her hiking at Torrey Pines. And if she’s up for another trek, we’d explore Lake Hodges—it’s not as popular as Torrey Pines but just as beautiful in my book.
No San Diego adventure would be complete without a visit to the San Diego Zoo, where we’d marvel at the diverse and fascinating animals. And because we deserve a bit of indulgence, we’d wrap up our trip with a day at the La Costa Resort and Spa for some well-earned massages and pampering.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Dave Kees. His unwavering support and encouragement have been the backbone of Kees Analytics from the very beginning. He’s been a steadfast rock for our kids and our home, particularly during those times when I’m immersed in work. I don’t think I express my gratitude enough, so it’s about time he gets the credit he truly deserves!
I’d also like to give a shoutout to my friend and former colleague, Ericka Wright, for kickstarting my business by referring me to my very first client back in 2016. That initial introduction set off a chain reaction, and over the past 8 years, it’s been incredible to see how that first connection has led to many more. I am forever grateful, Ericka!
