We had the good fortune of connecting with Carla Daniela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carla, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am Carla Daniela, owner of the San Diego atelier Tailor Love that specializes in bridal alterations. I was born and raised in Azores, Terceira Island, Portugal. My dream as a child was to open my own atelier where I could create and help brides’ visions come to life, tailor wedding gowns and redesign vintage wedding dresses that are personalized and unique. Since I was a child, I started trading toys for the fabrics that would be left from my grandma Albertina’s sewing. I would transform them into specialty gowns, ball gowns, and wedding gowns. My taste for fashion, design and tailoring would grow through the years, and so would my knowledge by graduating in Fashion and Textile Design. In 2024 I am now celebrating 14 years of my vision at Tailor Love with happy brides looking their best.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My mission at Tailor Love is to tailor wedding gowns to perfection, customized to fit like a glove and create beautiful Happy Brides. I am very fortunate to be in the bride’s business where I can make brides feel and look amazing on their special day and that is very rewarding to me. I take pride in my craft and the high standards I set for myself at my atelier. I am immensely proud to work on couture wedding designer brands and recently I been awarded and recognized by the business community and trade publications like:
San Diego Magazine, I was named San Diego Magazine’s 2023 Women Pioneer of Trade + Craft of the Year.
LUXLIFE Magazine awarded Tailor Love the Style & Apparel Awards 2023 as the Best Clothing Tailoring and Sewing Business in San Diego.
2023 People Love Us on Yelp Recognition.
Tailor Love Day Proclamation. Received the Proclamation from Todd Gloria – Mayor of San Diego for Tailor Love Day – November 1st.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am so fortunate to live in San Diego and visit Balboa Park. I am always happy to take my friends to Balboa Park and visit all the beautiful museums, attractions, explore landmarks, and have some great food at The Prado restaurant and relax among lush landscapes and gorgeous architecture. I would also take my friends to visit the beautiful Hotel Coronado and walk by the beach and enjoy the city. Drive to Seaport Village and make sure we visit the USS Midway Museum, then go for some good Mexican food and margaritas at Old Town. Drive up to Oceanside and visit the “Top Gun” house and enjoy the famous high pie with homemade mascarpone ice cream. And just enjoy San Diego wonderful views and beautiful beaches, historical attractions and weather.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to all my beautiful Happy Brides that have allowed us to be a part of their special wedding day by tailoring and redesigning their beautiful wedding gowns. I am very grateful to all my brides because they have helped me build my business, and brides have travel from all over San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Arizona, Chicago, Hawaii, Japan and other places. Thank you to all my brides for allowing me to fulfill my dreams and purpose, and for recognizing my work at my atelier Tailor Love.
