We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I notice as someone who now works with 13 different clients on a retainer that the single most important factor behind my success is the relational aspect. I’m not a salesman, I sell people on my passion for what I can do for them. I have to convince people to pay me a good amount of money every month with out having to go into an office with them, with out them seeing me on a regular basis and there is NO WAY that could happen if I didn’t have some sort of relationship with them, or build that trust.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My wife and I got married young. She was 19 and I was 22. By the age of 22 I was a nurse. I went to nearly 4 years of schooling to get my license. I loved nursing, I did it for almost a decade but sadly got heavily addicted to opiates. Long story short is I was doing 50 pills a day and had to leave nursing for obvious reason, I’ve been in 3 treatment centers, hospitalized 7 times, nearly dying more times than I can count and some how got thru it. I went into ministry and did music for almost 12 years, I have a few albums under Mike Clark band. While working at the church I started doing video work, from there I started realizing there is a business in building content for clients. So I did it on the side to prove that I can start a business. In the middle of covid I stepped out and went full time in to this video production world and haven’t once looked back. It’s been one of the best jobs I’ve ever had and can’t believe I get paid to do it. Fun fact and weirdest thing about me is in 2018 I created a gum magic trick. I put it on the market and it was trending for a few months. Every big magician was doing my magic trick online and the biggest magician in Germany put me on his prime time magic TV show during this time. It was kind of mind blowing. So on instagram under magictrickmike I have over 100 magic tricks that I have created. Only candy magic. I wasn’t a magician I was just fascinated with how magic was made. I now have 3 tricks on the market that I get paid on a monthly basis from. Haha. Yes very weird but it was a fun season of my life. So this was for sure in a nut shell but it took many miracles to get to where I am at. I get to now work with pro sports teams, belmont park, liberty station, MLS, Wave, Mojo Pro volleyball, Pro Rugby, pool company, electric bike company, and probably the coolest thing I do is work for Drew Brees. I started working with Drew last Oct and it’s been an amazing! I run his YouTube and fly around with him at times to collect fun and cool content from businesses that he’s a part of. Over these months he has become a great friend. Which is funny because I am not much of a sports guy. I know zero about football. Anyway, that’s where I’m at.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love the beach, sea world and anything that has to do with the water. I’m a big fan of dennys, but we also love anything out in Coronado. Matter of fact my wife tends to live there one day. Haha.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate and attribute any good success I have to the Lord. My faith is everything to me. I’m not religious, matter of fact I do not like religion , my foundation is set on a relationship with Jesus.
